He means the caves not the batcave. The vines still block them off until you beat the last boss. After you beat Ivy you have one more fight and im sure you can guess with who.

Except they don't. I clearly remember missing something in Croc's lair, going back for it, and discovering that there were vines in the way. I went back post-Ivy but pre-party, and the vines were gone. I had every single riddle, trophy, map, and tape before going to the party, and a bunch of them were in areas previously blocked by vines.

Well I clearly remember defeating Ivy and trying to finish my riddles before fighting the last boss. But every area I needed to enter such as Croc's lair was blocked by vines.

All vines that render areas inaccessible disappear after Ivy is defeated. There are some Riddler trophies that you cannot access until Ivy is defeated and the areas are re-opened (since you get the final Batclaw at the same time that the vines appear).

I've ran the game plenty of times myself, the vines definitely disappear from the caves when you defeat Ivy. I usually finish up 100% riddles after Ivy, so the cave has to be a location I hit up before I finish the game. Ergo, you can access the caves after defeating Ivy, and before going to the party.

I can't seem to remember anywhere to get to the caves . . . can you tell me which area to go to for the caves?

The entrance is opposite the Arkham Mansion(i think) at the far south of that area. It's a little hard to see as it's a cave opening but it's there. I always find it because of the ledge right above it that teases you with a riddler trophy you can't get till nearly the end. It's the large area with water on the right side of the map.

I would usually go through Intensive Treatment, having finished up collecting riddles there. Then I'd go into Croc's Lair and can deviate to the Caves from there. I'm sure you can get in from Arkham East too, since one of the exits of lead out that way, the poster above has described its location.
