Does it get better?

I liked the demo though didn't like how often buildings catch on fire the rest was pretty good. Just wondering if the game gets better if you buy it. Thanks.

Yes there is a patch which addresses the steep difficulty.

Buildings only catch fire in two situations

For buildings that EMPLOY some one, like a farm, mine or theater. If no one is currently working their or it dose not have the resources necessary for some one to work their. It will catch fire, eventually. The time to catch fire depends on the patch.

For the Plebs Patricians and equites (Whatever their called). They will turn to crime if they are not happy and the criminals will start burning building left and right.

If employed they need 25 in their desired stat and if unemployed 50
Plebs need FOOD, At 75 food they make 3 goods
A farmers market + bakery + butcher shop gets you 75 food

Equites need Food and Entertainment, and two goods
For the entertainment Inn + Tavern is fine.
You will need to switch the butcher and baker from plebs to equites.

Patricians need Food, Entertainment and Religion
Everything above and throw in a saturn and mars temple. Or just a Jupiter.

So when you build you kind of need to do it in stages.

Pleb Stage
Pig farm (Slave, +5 productivity with water)
What farm (Slave, +5 productivity with water)
Wood cutter (Slave)
Bricks (Slave)

Water Mill
Butcher
Baker
Farmers Market

Insulea (Pleb houses) JUST enough to employ the above buildings
I Strongly suggest a temple of Saturn(for some money) and school as well. The sooner you can start learning the better.
Fountain(s) touching all houses

Equite Stage
Stone mine (Slave)
Grape Farm (+5 productivity with water)

Switch over butcher and baker to Equites
Inn
Tavern
prefecture (Technically optional but the decreed maintenance is a HUGE bonus)

I suggest
Herbalist
Temple of Mars
Temple of Vesta

And you can figure out Patricians fairly easy at that point

And if you dont know, one slave market will run everything that can be run with slaves. As long as its within the slave market radius.

That means that one slave market can multiple brick houses, wood cutters, what and pig farms (not grape and olive). So its very handy to have all that stuff away from your main city.

No idea how gamefaqs handles images,

Example City, North is pleb stage, East is Equite,

Example satlite city using a slave market.

I shoved the form out in the middle of nowhere because the things useless beside prerequitse for buildings.

This has helped me the most in this game. I went from frustrated screaming "I HATE THIS GAME!!!" To understanding it and actually liking it.

That would be correct. A level 2 farm (I think) produced 17 wheat from Plebs, and 15 from Slaves.

I've only played the demo btw, but lookin at buying the game
