The game runs natively at 720p. I don't know if it has a 1080p upscaling option, but the default resolution for the game is 720.

I've noticed with a lot of games that are on both PS3 and 360 that only the 360 ones will go up to 1080p and ps3 to only 720. I don't know why it's this way but yeah it looks like this game only goes up to 720p based on the box.

The reason for that is because the 360 has a built in scaler that fakes 1080p resolution. The PS3 doesn't do that, so whatever resolutions are listed on the box are the ones it supports. The 360 will just output games at whatever resolution your TV is set to, even if it has to stretch or mess them up to do it.

Hell, Halo 3's box says it supports '1080p' and the game's native resolution is 540p. It's not even actually HD.

Both versions render at 720p with no AA.

No. It's the exact same way with the PS3. Except the PS3 has a crappy upscaler so often times your TV has to do the scaling which usually makes images upscaled to 1080p look worse on PS3 than it will on x360. However, neither console has enough 1080p games to even be worth mentioning. Most are 720p or less. But if you have a 1080p display most games will generally look better with the x360 simply because it has the superior scaler which results in less artifacting.

The important point however is that an image rendered 720p and upscaled to 1080p still only has 720p worth of actual data making up the image. So for the most part, if you're gaming on a console, there's no point whatsoever to having a 1080p display.

It's the exact same way with a number of PS3 titles as well. MGS4 for example says 1080p on the box, yet it only renders in a sub-HD 1024x768.
