5d's isnt upsetting. gx was. in the beginning of gx, it felt like a school type of anime with dueling involved but from what i heard, it gets better much much later but thats far away. --- A 2D Metroid must be made for the DS before the DS era ends |
final_lapPosted 6/6/2009 2:25:10 PM | I know right, GX is a typical shonen drivel setting, that's what was severely disappointing about it. It was just about card games. Yugioh Duel Monsters was about a lot of other things, it was much more imaginative and epic-scale. You didn't play card games because you went to a freakin boarding school for card games, but because card games were life and death, and power on a world scale (Kaiba) the series also dealt with other types of games/puzzles (Dungeon Dice, millenium puzzle, "shadow games") and action sequences. I haven't watched 5D's but in a way it feels like it takes the series back to its roots with its atmosphere and self-ignored absurdity. Yusei is also a more iconic style character design than Jaden, and in terms of hair design more of a successor to Yugi. Anyway I dunno, just some thoughts. |
