I feel most comfortable with pseudo-tanks, i.e. not specifically a tank but really effective if built as a combination tank and support. Hence, Amumu.
Thing is, the only runes I possess right now are crit-based (thanks, 25 x T1 garbage Roulette!) Which is handy when I get a combination CDR, AS, and HP Janna with defensive masteries (Eye of the Stormed, Fortified turrets that splash = lulz) but nigh-useless for Amumu, one of my more played heroes. I've bought three flat-HP quints, too (but can only use two at the moment with my level.)
What's more important? Stacking armor, stacking mage resist, regen, HP, what? Or is it reliant on the champ? (Again, referencing Amumu, I'm tempted to get CDR runes just to let him throw out bandages and curses more.) --- [Bracketeer from 1/15/05 to 1/15/08.] You act as though payback makes you a noble man, is that a fact? On Amumu? I suggest the following: Red Health/lvl or something (up to you), Yellow Dodge, Blue CDR (one per level, everything else flat) and Quint Health. It really differs depending on the champion. --- Pokemon Platinum FC: Zev, 4425 7842 6332 Pokemon Diamond FC: Zev, 0902 9586 8138

I would look into getting magic resist runes, as those are harder to come by in items, whereas armor is easy (and not completely necessary in every game). --- http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2303/32146188.jpg
