Can someone explain to me how flash works?

I activate my flash spell.... a cooldown starts but nothing happens.. I don't teleport. I dont get a cursor change or anything. How do I activate this spell correctly??

Your champion moves to wherever YOUR CURSOR is at the moment. E.g. if your cursor (the hand thingy you use to direct your hero) is in the middle of the screen, your champ will go there. If it's in the corner, you will move towards there (flash range is somewhat limited).

When you use it, you instantly teleport in the direction of your cursor. Maybe you tried clicking in the icon? I suppose if you did that it probably would teleport you to the exact spot you're already standing in.

To use it properly, move your cursor over where you want to go, and hit the hotkey. It'll take a few uses to learn it's maximum range and get the most out of it.

No, if he clicks on the icon, it works exactly like every other spell in the game, unless Riot very recently changed this. I've tried it before.
But yes, OP, what you probably thought is that it teleports you anywhere on the map, but it's range is very very limited. It's useful to surprise your opponents.

sometimes rooms have poor lighting so your camera will emit a bright light to counter the darkness and give you a clear view of your intended capture. it is dubbed a flash.
