I don't like starting dolans. Sure people say you can do it with a heal bot, but what happens when they have boots and you don't? They will have more mobility to either escape or chase. I would rather have the move speed to chase people down or run away from a gank.

Depends if you utilize it.

If you're in a kill lane bot and that extra damage gets you first blood, then no one is really going to complain.

Funny cause recently I played as Graves w/ Soraka against an Ez and even though I got first blood and steamrolled all throughout laning and carried the game the enemy Teemo called me a noob cause I started doran blade. Ah sheep.

And the answer is it depends on your reasoning.
