New Player looking for champions

So so far I have played 3 of the f2p champs. The kaitlyn ,ice bird thing, the fire mage who costs 450 ( i hate her,) and i really liked the first 2. I also bought fiddlesticks and like him. But i'm really looking for some sort of assasin melee character who i can play top lane with and also gank. Any reccomendations?
Cheaper the better too

You need to look in the tall grass for champions.

Poppy. She may be melee but the majority of her damage is magical and diving was named after her.

I'd recommend building her like so:

Level R>Q>E>W

Boots + pots -> Merc's or Tabi or Sorc's
Hextech Gunblade
Deathfire Grasp / Guinsoo's (Burst or Sustain Damage)
Void Staff

But so long as you get the trinity force and Hextech you can't really go wrong.
