What makes Anivia good?

I recently got her and the q > e combo + being able to block people with w are really fun, but she seems meh in damage compared to other mids. Is it that she's more about utility while doing moderate damage than she is about easily nuking enemies down, or am I just building her wrong?

I've been going:
Boots 3pot
Tear of the Goddess
Chalice of Harmony
Sorc Boots
Athene's Unholy Grail
Archangel Staff
Void Staff
Steam: Calimar777
XBL: Calimar

IIRC, her base damage on her abilities is really high which allows her to build tankier than most AP mids and still do really good damage.

Also, wall OP. Egg OP.

She can destroy anything anytime she wants. If she is in the jungle you WILL LOSE TEAM FIGHTS. Built in GA.
I don't always Sublime Archangle and Silverblade Paladin, but when I do, I win on the fourth turn.

I've always felt like she does tons of damage. :/

High skill ceiling champ

E -> R (before the E actually hits) -> Q -> E will be back up again.

devastating combo

Super high utility and very high damage
#8Black_AssassinPosted 11/19/2012 10:58:28 PM
DAMAGE: 120 / 180 / 240 / 300 / 360 (+ 100% AP)
DAMAGE: 110 / 170 / 230 / 290 / 350 (+ 100% AP)

Q and E. Oh and the former is also an AoE stun. So Anivia not only has pretty much the best base damages in the game, they also come with ridiculous scaling.
Also terrain creation is broken.

I hate her slow Q but I guess if it wasn't slow she would be too good.
