Yes because cloth doesnt build into aegis or tabis. Nope, cloth is terrible item

Personally, I start regrowth pendant. His lvl 2 ganks aren't that great, leveling W a second time at 3 gives you that much better clear speeds so you get to 4 quicker, and at 4 you have both E and Q, which really make your ganks deadly. Without E, you don't do as much burst damage. Without Q, you may as well not gank. From personal experience, anyway.


I think I'm in some form of Elo hell in which the players in my normal games have NO idea how to set up a gank, but know PERFECTLY how to avoid one. So, no assistance from the laner on ganks, but the enemy laner gets out of dodge quick. I essentially have to farm all game unless my ally is in top lane. Pretty bad :S


Anyways, I would suggest grabbing W over Q or E because E doesn't scale quite as well, and Q doesn't gain any slow. While the magic damage for an opening is HUGE, the damage per swing with E early on and the damage per second from W ends up being a bit more.

Q scales from 15% of enemies current health to 25% of current health, minimum of 80 to 280 damage. While leveling makes it better for that minimum damage not being so bad, your E will give you ~40 to 100 damage per AA for 5 seconds, AND more damage based on the amount of health you are missing. Gets stronger the weaker you are? Yes please!

Alternatively, W deals AoE damage over time, 35-95 per second, AND it gives 10-30% tenacity. I actually run ninja tabi on him because of his W. Why CC the tank? Why CC the tank that has merc treads? Why CC the tank that has NATIVE merc treads AND ninja tabi? Exactly.


Personally, I start Regrowth+1, just as I start my skarner jungle. At about 700 gold on my first return, I can buy a philo's and a pair of boots. Keep going and gank when I get a good opportunity (now at level 4 at least), I can buy a HoG. HoG REALLY synergizes with his kit, as does Philo's/Regrowth with that extra regen. Are there better options? (Giants belt) Yes. Do those options give gold gen? No.


So yeah... I play Mundo as a hidden carry. Item buy order is Regrowth+1>Philo's/Boots1>HoG>Ninja Tabi>Warmogs/FoN depending on team comp, next is the other piece>Sunfire>Randuin's>Another Warmogs.

If I'm doing really well and the enemy is large amounts of AD or the enemy AP is mostly shut down, I'll often skip the warmogs/FoN and go straight for a sunfire for faster clear speeds, better ganks, etc etc and more gold generation to push my advantage.


Others may have different beliefs behind him, but that's how I run him. Go tank teamfights right in the center, spreading damage at a rapid rate (Small numbers quickly over a long period of time? Adds up quite a bit)

Some of my biggest overall damage numbers have come from Mundo.

Thanks to everyone who posted for the tips, I've cxhanged my masteries and skill order and took heed of the other things you've said and now I'm having a much easier time in the early game :)

I go 9/21/0 on him, getting the 3AD, CDR and Magic Pen on him. I get the Magic Pen because his cleavers will do a lot more damage especially since it does % based damage. This may be wrong but I've had a lot of success with it.

AS Reds, Armor blues, AS Blues, Armor quints. 25.5 armor, and 21% atk speed.

Boots pots
HoG
Spirit Visage
Sunfire Cape
FoN is they're tanky, Warmogs if not
Randuins
GA

Sitational boots, usually after Spirit Visage, or HoG if needed.

Watch out for ults that do % damage based on max health, (especially when you are trying to get the most of a certain ability) only way I've really been able to successfully finish off a Mundo mid-late game so far is with having a Black Torch and using Eve's Aganoy's Embrace ability.

I'm not even sure if ignite even effects his regen tbh.
