Anyone else think this is just a good all around patch?

Yes, it is. They removed it because they wanted to get rid of the mechanic as a whole. The fact that they just bothered to replace it hardly helps him because Udyr was bad even before they removed dodge, and he will remain bad until they do something about his kiting problem.

Udyr is one of my favorite champions, but I won't kid myself and think that a sub-par "buff" is going to help him.

No, not really. He was considered top tier jungle when S2 jungle came out, was getting real big in top lane, was played in tournaments, and most people said part of his passive being dropped was a justified nerf. Months later they went and nerfed him again. Unsurprisingly that is when all of the bandwagon hate started where people criticized him presently and retrospectively him and acted like he always sucked and could never do anything.

And obviously they mean for mobility to be one of his weaknesses. This board seems to have the idea that if a champion has a weakness it is a design flaw by Riot.

People criticized Udyr for the same reasons long before the season 2 jungle came out. They started playing him again despite his flaws because the S2 jungle suited him very well.

With the newest jungle and meta, Udyr is again considered just another outdated champion that has no place.
