Mostly because Catalyst is one of the best items during the laning phase. But I personally never build it.

I get it when I'm stomping. I think it's a great item if you can get it early enough. I normally just go tanky first with my only AP from dorans rings and runes.

Not sure if you've noticed but health stacking is a thing in League of Cleavers. Rod of Ages never was bad on Cho, the problem was he had better alternatives. He still does, but less so.

TC just lost a game in which Cho built RoA and he decided that was the losing factor.

And because he actually scales well with AP. I honestly see no reason NOT to get it when you are not losing your lane.

Cause people are stupid. Either just go AP w/ deathcap or full tank w/ omen or sunfire or warmogs. Rod is a wishy washy loser item on Cho.
