I seem to have a good grasp of items to get but cant seem to get them fast enough/at the right times...

What I like to do is this.

Boots/3 starting

Rush Revolver

Sorc shoes or CDR Boots (Depends on how lane is going.)

Build Haunting Guise

Work towards a Rylais

Zhonyas

Liandrys and WOTA

Deathcap if you're super fed.

Deathcap if you're super fed.

This but Dcap instead of Rylais. So after boots, revolver, sorcs and guise you start building dcap. After you get your pen you want giant amounts of AP to give your kit more burst to kill the carries. Then you want to build resistances through abyssal and zhonyas, depends on the situation for what to build first and when to finish wota and liandrys.

9 pots/2 wards start is better than boots/pots. With all that sustain it's very easy to win early so I will go straight Haunting Guise for early lane dominance/tankiness and just skip revolver unless I'm having a tough time.

Seriously, try my Vlad build.

Start boots because MS is important on Vlad.

Rush a Revolver.

Then get a Spirit Visage and Sorcs (I like getting Sorc shoes, but I guess Cooldown boots are fine too);

From here get whatever you need.You'll never have to back because mids simply can't force you out of lane. Go into Deathcap, Liandry's, Rylais, Abyssal, Hourglass, w/e. It all depends on what you or your team needs.
