Is there seriously any reason for changing the elo system other than

to make terribad players feel better about themselves? Is that literally the only reason?

It also feels better to win and move up a rank in relation to 100, as opposed to 20,000.

I think that's pretty much it. Also, some people might feel less stress in the new system and feel better about playing Ranked. And Ranked games are really the point of League, so the more people playing them the better.

I didn't give a damn about elo, ranked or any of that BS in the 3 years I have played. Not once did I care. It was just a boring, unfun e-peen jerk off that offered no real sense of progression, nor incentive to actually do it.

This new incentive actually looks fun enough just in how it is designed for me to give ranked some thought now. It is SOOOOOO much better

who said it was actually changed?

MMR is just Elo with the numbers sanded off.

It's so much more fun. However, for some reason, I've been having bad luck with afkers and blatant trolls since they remade the system...
