I can see not wanting to do it at the start of the game, but after 5 minutes into the game you can fork over 75 gold.

A related but worse problem is that I find the supports who don't ward are the supports who also farm minions.
Not just last-hitting, but constantly auto-attacking and pushing the lane. |
