suppose they showed the enemies name in champ select. How would you like this

No, it would allow people to just counter other players by looking up their stats or knowing their strategies (you play with the same people in top ELO)

Doesn't really matter until you get to high ELO. Then you have no common bans anymore and all bans are targeted. 1Goal and 1Dream never gets to play Kassadin again.

It would matter in repeat games, where your chances of being matched with the same people

That sound really terrible, everyone would be pressured to scramble looking up stats at the beginning of every match. And it would stifle creativity and strategy since people couldn't properly practice things enough once they started getting good enough to warrant targeted bans.

He didn't mention the champion in question. Yet you knew he was talking about Vi. So obviously, banning Vi would affect him, in that he couldn't play his main.
