I have about 2 weeks worth of LoL experience and I want to get into using Ahri.
I never faced Diana before (or teamed up with one), and I fought my first Diana as Ahri earlier today. I tried doing my own thing and just try to poke with Orb of Deception, but Diana's pokes seem more effective.
Do I just hold out until level 6 and then start ulting her?
Diana will pretty much have the advantage against you throughout the entire laning phase. Her poke with Q is better than your poke with Q and she can W your W or Q to mitigate damage. I won't even go into the massive kill potential she has on you when she hits 6.
Honestly your best bet is to get a ton of regen (either flask + pots or all pots) and wards to start and just farm and play safe. Keep in mind that when Diana's Q is down you can attack her safely from range, she has nothing on you. Try to land a charm and if you can hit Q + W for a ton of damage. Once she hits 6 it really becomes a game of dodging her Qs. If shes decently low and she misses a Q I would probably just R and go all in with ignite.
If you go even or feed a kill and get behind rush abyssal, if you get a kill you can maybe go something else like revolver but abyssal is probably a better choice either way because when you teamfight you can be sure Diana is going to initiate with Q+R.

Ahri vs Diana is a tricky match-up; its gonna favour Diana usually due to her tankiness from W and her quick high damage combo. Plus Diana has the mobility to keep up with Ahri past level 6. Pre-6 in lane, you wanna harass with Q and force her to use W defensively. Diana's main weakness is her lack of mobility pre-6; she can't really execute any combos unless you get on top of her, Ahri on the other hand has her E -> Q + W combo at lvl 3. Once Diana hits 6, your main focus needs to fall upon dodging her Q. Once Diana has a couple Doran's Rings, she can spam for quite some time; she'll try and widdle you down with Q and then all-in you with a quick R -> E + W. Your job as Ahri is to avoid her skillshots and land your own. Inevitably when Diana lands a Q and Ults in, you gotta time your Ahri ult to get out of Diana's pull. If you successfully dodge the pull, Diana is essentially screwed; kite her with your last 2 ult charges and land your combo. If its a smart Diana she'll disengage immediately after missing the pull so you gotta get on her quick.

For those of you who think Diana counters Ahri I am disappointed =(
Although they did give informative posts that were mostly on point. Some things you should note is placing 2 points in Q and 1 point in E for level 3. It conserves mana better than 1 point in each QWE, for damage/mana wise. The greatest tip I can give you is to stand near your range minions and auto attack harass when Diana goes to cs. When she Qs always run counter clock-wise and away from her. Diana's Q is slow moving and easily dodgable. In addition Diana's Q are AOE she ends up pushing the lane if she attacks uses it against you since you stood by caster minions. Practice dodging Diana's Q and landing Ahri's charms are the easiest ways to win the match up.
Your spells outrange Diana's by a far margin by 50 units on Q and over 500+ units on the other abilities. If you ever do not manage to dodge Diana's Q post 6 get ready to charm in her direction immediately. Sometimes you can even bait her if you are close to tower by Ultimate dashing back to your tower as she dashs to you after Diana's Q lands on you, then turn to charm her under your turret and continue your combo that way.
Diana is very mana hungry, force her to waste it all on her Q. Once she's at 10%, land an E and follow up with Q W and R if post 6. She shouldn't have enough for her shield so you can pretty much kill her
