I want to be a support. Is Soraka a good choice?

I'm trying to get into PvP and I wanted to be a support. I really like Soraka for all of her utility, especially the ability to grant mana back to allies.

Is she a good choice? I was also considering Lulu or Sona.

Soraka if passive. The other two if aggresive is what you want.

Soraka is decent for starting out, but down the line you'll need to start picking up some supports that can play more aggressively like Taric, Leona, or Nunu. Not to say Soraka can't be aggressive, but her silence despite being costless can't compete with stuns or slows. She's mostly only a decent pick from my experience against poke lanes, especially Caitlyn.

People far underestimate the power of an aggressive soraka. Similar to why yorick had his short time as a powerful support before his nerfs for top lane hurt him.

That sounds fun to try. If only I had Yorick...

Maybe I'll just use Trundle support in normals.

Get Sona, Lulu, Taric, and Leona. Only four supports you need.

Nami support is one of my favorites. If you can land her q her harassment is awesome and r is great. I know ppl are going to say other champs do what she does better but I still like her a lot.

Leona I find is better when you're duo with a adc. Lulu is probably one of the best supports. But anyway if your starting off I'd go Nunu, Sona, Soraka.
