I actually played against him as kat during my last game. Almost everything he tried was ineffective. If you have warded your bushes (which should almost always happen) Hecarim is pretty useless. It just means that you need to position yourself away from the bush he is in.

Furthermore, in a teamfight Hecarim's abilities always seem to leave him over-extended and far out of the teamlines.

He helped me carry a few games past few weeks. He is a late game terror. SV IBG Spirit of the Lizard situational boots and last 2 slots build from there. GG he never dies in team fights so long as his W is active.

spirit visage changes made him very strong as well as iceborn gauntlet as a substitute for sheen and frozen heart taking up two separate slots

Yeah the new items have done a lot for Hecarim, even the allaround MS boost is a slight buff to him.
