The text has always said "The cooldown is refreshed if Noxian Guillotine kills the target." But in reality it still refreshes no matter what killed the target, be it bleed or another person, if it happens during the animation. So you can still get it refreshed on assist if its timed right.
I believe the way the game considers this is that the ability is canceled and the cooldown isn't set-off. Probably exactly like Skarner if he loses vision/targetability in the brief cast-time of his ultimate. Darius Instead of resetting if it kills an opponent, Noxian Guillotine ( R ) is now able to be recast for 12 seconds after killing an opponent. Noxian Guillotine ( R ) cooldown increased to 120/100/80 from 100/90/80. The CD increase was unnecessary with the first change IMO.

I feel like this will actually make some Darius players play smarter and better. You can now Ulti as soon as you have 5 stacks in a landing trade, rather than trying to keep them close to you long enough to execute.
