Heard different opinions, max Riven's Q or W first?

I talk to my friends and read guides. Half the time they say broken wings, half the time they say ki burst. Not totally sure who to believe.

Opinions?

Depends, you shouldn't mindlessly max out one of them without thinking which one will benefit you more in your current situation.

You should get level 2 of q ASAP because it doubles the base damage, but every level after that is increasingly less useful. After you get level 2 Q level you W and E as you see fit (I usually do them equally). For those skills levels increase both damage and CDR, so levels are more important on them.

Ideally, you want to bully and snowball and win. So you max Q.

If you can't bully and snowball and win, and are forced to just laning normally, W.

(Q does have it's dueling prowess even if you aren't snowballing, but that seems to be a general rule)

A friend of mine prefers to max out the shield dash.
