How does one Volibear?

Randomly got gifted him and now I figure that I should play him a bit.
I'm assuming manmoding a team when you aren't fed is a bad idea.

Volibear is actually very good at man-moding. He's kind of like singed.

Key facts:
-You want to build health and attack speed. CDR is also a very good stat. Locket is a good first item. In general buy kindle gem items, they're super good.
-When jungling you should be gank-heavy. Volibear is good at tanking towers thanks to his passive sustain, so consider ganks under towers on pushed lanes to be an option.
-When top lane you rely on your W burst damage to win trades. Trade when W is up, don't when it isn't. If you're getting crushed, max E as it will help you cs from range and disengage with the slow.
-When your passive is ticking, kite. You can be bursted down and lose the effect. If you kite, people will chase you and waste time.
-Your ult does a lot of damage, even vs single targets.

I figured he was good at that, but I'm just saying when you don't have items don't say **** it and dive their team.
And thanks for the tips. Do you just use standard summoner's on him or would Ghost be a good option?

Ghost will probably be enough to save you from ganks. Flash gives you a flash + flip initiation, but the cooldown is higher. Both are viable choices depending on what you want.

Boots of choice
Warmogs
Frozen Mallet
Atma's Impaler
Wits End
One defensive item of choice (Runic Bulwark, Thornmail, Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage are my go to items)

Build mallet first if dominating lane, warmogs if not. Take the avarice blade and finish the impaler once you get both HP items. Work on the defensive item when you can and finish with the wits end.
