its ridiculous that such a cheap item needs 3 items to counter it. Sanguine blade, black cleaver AND last whisper

Some MR, Life Steal, and JUST a last whisper counters Thornmail and helps you in the whole fight... building items isn't about countering a single item it's about countering a BUILD.

You don't look at an ADC and see they have a Black Cleaver so you don't build armor. You look at Everything they have and decided via that. Thornmail is used to counter Heavy damage ADs. But it is also very easy to counter.
