He has hurted for a long time but....

The magic pen is just overwhelming right now.

I go Magic Pen quints, yes quints on xerath [along with reds] and it is just too much to handle.

I generally like Scaling AP Blues and then MR yellows, he gets more armor from his passive than he normally needs to even worry about armor stuff unless vs an AD mid.

His magic pen just becomes overwhelming. Get sorcs shoes and Haunting Guise + those pen runes + the magic pen mastery + his W and it is just SO much magic pen.

He doesn't hurt for mana too much either really.... I mean you can't be dumb with spamming though.

ACTIVE: Xerath anchors himself to his current location with a 0.5 second casting time. For up to 8 seconds afterwards, he gains increased range of all his spells and bonus magic penetration, but cannot move. Xerath can deactivate the ability at any time after 0.5 seconds of casting it, and gains 35% movement speed for 2 seconds when doing so.

He's always been a strong pick he's just quite difficult to use effectively so there's not a lot of players that play him.

People used to think that he sucked because he was slow and practically immobile. On top of the "LOL SKILLSHOTS TOO HARD GG" mentality. But once you lock someone down, he bursts hard.
