To get more comfortable with champs and PvP. To farm IP. To practice playing without the harsh penalties/pressure of ranked.

To troll, to get used to the community, To try builds, For people that have no interest in ranked games, to try a different meta (duo mid, duo top, no jungler, all mid etc) in SR

I play normals with friends and when I am in a mood to play champions I would not feel comfortable playing in the high stakes environment of ranked.
