For ages now I've been taking Heal when I play Support. I like keeping allies' health up as much as possible, especially the little surge in teamfights later on to a whole group.
Lately though, like in the past couple weeks (So not in any S3 changes) one of my regular partners has been throwing a fit every time I take it, whining about Exhaust instead. No one else I play with, pub or otherwise, complains about having Heal taken.
Without fail, Heal has secured many kills and many saved lives in every game, both in teamfights and otherwise, but he's constantly telling me to stick with Exhaust instead. I'm not a fan of it since, again, I like to keep people topped off and in teamfights I feel like the surge team-wide is more helpful--and indeed, it has been.
So, where's the sudden Heal hate from? Arguably, he's just not a great player, since I haven't heard anyone else complain about it. But, I haven't heard any defense of it either. Exhaust is usually way more useful. I'd rather have a fed carry exhausted in a team fight, or a fed assassin trying to dive one of our fed carries, than a small heal in most cases. --- Important Time Saving Tip: I've been using this name on the internet for 8 years now. I don't watch DBZ and haven't for several years now.
Well Ignite is kinda common in bot lane, which messes with heal, not to mention that exhaust just has more over-all usefulness (can be used to save you, or to secure a kill). If they have ignite+exhaust at bot and you have ignite+heal, they will win every fight in lane --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! THERES SO MUCH PEOPLE READING AND POSTING STUIPED STUFF
It depends on what support character you are using.

and just fyi, this heal "hate" is not sudden in the least.
But IMO heal is outclassed by barrier because it's not countered by the very common ignite, now heal is aoe, and that's nice later, but in laning it's not gonna be as useful as them just taking barrier, and if you wanna keep people topped off just play a sustain support --- Nami is my waifu! ~<3

clarity is even less useful than heal is, mainly because you die if you run out of health but not if you run out of mana (especially since, as an AD, they don't need mana to deal damage) --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! THERES SO MUCH PEOPLE READING AND POSTING STUIPED STUFF
Exhaust is more useful than a small heal because it completely takes an enemy out of the fight for a few seconds, but if you're using heal anyways it shouldn't be used to keep people topped off, you should be saving it to bait the enemy into a fight when they see you're "about to die."
