Mathematical proof of wearing a Rabadon's and Hextech Gunblade on Miss Fortune

#1PrintScreenKeyPosted 6/18/2013 7:51:50 PM
The Miss Fortune ARAM ultimate bot wants to maximize the damage of her ultimate.
To do this she can build 3 stats:
1. Attack Damage
2. Ability Power
3. Armor Penetration

Undoubtedly she will build a Black Cleaver and Last Whisper to penetrate the armor of her opponents. People know this. But what other items should Miss Fortune build to max her ultimate damage?

AD ratio = 0.35.
AP ratio = 0.2.

At first glance it looks like it's smarter to build AD items? Right?
The highest AD items on ARAM provides 70 AD. The sanguine blade that provides 95 AD only on max stacks.

What about AP? The highest AP item provides 120 AP.

Comparing them:

0.2 AP = 0.35 AD
0.2/0.35 AP = AD
0.57 AP = AD

From this, one might conclude that AP is only 57% as efficient as AD.

70 / 0.57 = 122.5 AP.

You would need 122.5 AP to equal the damage given by 70 AD right? O dear! We shouldn't build AP on Miss Fortutne because there aren't AP items that give more than 120AP!
Here is the kicker - AD has no modifier. AP has modifiers in the AP mastery tree and deathcap.
Rabadon's Deathcap and 4 points in Archmage give boosts AP by 35%.

Let's compare them again taking into account these 2 items:

0.2 * 1.35 = 0.27 AP ratio.
0.27/0.35 AP = AD
0.77 AP = AD

Now we can see that AP is 77% as efficient as AD.

70 / 0.77 = 91 AP.

You only need 91 AP to equal the damage given by 70 AD with Deathcap and Archmage.
But hold on, there are 120AP items! DFG, Zhonya, Deathcap, Archangels (gives 117 AP for MF)

Therefore, we should get Last Whisper, Black Cleaver, Deathcap, DFG and Zhonya right?

WAIT! Let's not rush to conclusions just yet. There are HYBRID items.

Hextech Gunblade gives 65 AP and 45 AD. Nothing right? Let's test it out with maths.

DFG = 120 AP * 77% efficiency = 92.4 AD equivalency.
Hextech Gunblade = 65 AP * 77% efficiency + 45 AD = 95.05 AD equivalency.

What does this mean? Amazing result !!!! Hextech Gunblade gives the most damage for Miss Fortune's ultimate with Deathcap and Archmage.

That's not all, 95.05 AD is MORE than sanguine blade at max stacks. This means that Hextech Gunblade is the undisputed leader of Miss Fortune ultimate build.

Final Build after mathematical analysis:
Deathcap
Hextech Gunblade x3
Black Cleaver
Last Whisper

0.2 AP = 0.35 AD
0.2/0.35 AP = AD
0.57 AP = AD

I honestly don't understand this trail of math at all. I think it's stemming from "0.2 = 0.35"

It's an equation which relates AP and AD.

If you built 10 AD, it would boost your damage by 3.5.

0.2 AP = 0.35 * 10 AD

0.2 AP = 3.5

AP = 3.5 / 0.2

AP = 17.5

So to find the amount of AP which would also boost your damage by 3.5, you work out the equation and find you need 17.5 AP to equal the boost in damage from 10 AD.

0.57 AP = AD means that 1 point of AP only boosts your damage by 57% of 1 point in AD

It's the damage ratios for MF's ult. You need slightly less than twice as much AP to add an equivalent amount of damage as you need AD.

Psh, pure AP Miss Fortune is the way to go anyway. Surprise the enemy team with a shockingly strong bullet rain.

To be an ult-bot aren't you going to want max cdr in there?

well you have the 10% cdr from cleaver and 4% from masteries.

As long as each team fights occurs within 1.5 minutes from each other it should be up in time.
I doubt a team fight will happen every minute.

interesting but i'd rather just build Mage Fortune.

Of course there's no particular reason Mage Fortune can't buy a Gunblade.
