What's the best way to help out, in your opinion?
The best way to help players to improve is for them to play lots of games and then get insightful critique on what they did wrong and how they can improve. So, if you were really of the mind to help people, the easiest way to do it would be to organize competitive Gamefaqs customs (aka not the normal ones that have 5 diamond players in Skype against 5 bronze players who barely know each other) and then make youtube videos that commentate on that gameplay.
Do you know who Day9 is? Starcraft personality, gives really informative posts on how to help people get better at the game. If you want to help people get better, than become the Day9 of League of Legends.
One of the problems with bad players is that they are bad because they don't know how to play the game. Because they don't know how to play the game, they don't know how to improve. If you watch a high level streamer, 80% of the questions they get are questions like "How do I carry?" "How do I play this one role?" "How do I improve?" Questions that you could spend an entire 30 minute talk session on, and these viewers end up getting a 13 second discussion on lane presence before the streamer has to go back to playing the video game.
So be the guy to answer those sorts of questions.
"Ok, so we've got a custom game here between two groups of Gamefaqs players, all of them in Bronze. Blue team seems going for an AoE stomp comp with Kennen top, Amumu jungle, Talon mid, Miss Fortune bot, and Sona as their support. If the Red Team wants to stop this, they need some way to shut down Blue's initiation. A strong counter jungler and low level duelist to shut down Amumu, and a strong top lane that can shut down Kennen. Combine that with good peel from a support like Janna and they should be able to beat Blue team in the draft."
"So we have first blood going down in the bot lane. I'm going to pause the action and we're going to look at what happened. At first, it looks like Janna is making a dangerous mistake. She's up past Vayne and seems to be fighting Sona and Miss Fortune on her own. But I want you to pay close attention to Janna's experience bar. She and Vayne are about to level up, and by engaging the enemy duo she stopped them from csing. This gave Vayne the CS advantage, they both popped level 2, and that allowed Janna to shield herself and drop the Q, knocking Sona up long enough for Vayne to tumble into position and condemn her into the wall. Combined with Janna dropping her explorer ward there earlier, Vayne had vision of Janna and could auto her the whole team, leading to an easy first blood given how squishy Sona is."
Stuff like that. Analyze the elements of the game. Point out what worked and why it worked, and focus on where player's can improve instead of just saying that they misplayed something. "I spoke with the player after the game to try and get a feel for what happened, and Miss Fortune died here because she didn't check her opponent's inventory. She saw that last time Vayne had a pickaxe and a vamp scepter and thought she was going for an Infinity Edge +Vamp combo, but actually Vayne was rushing a Blade of the Ruined King. Miss Fortune engaged when she had a BloodThirster knowing that there was no way Vayne would have the components for IE down and not realizing that Vayne still had the item advantage." instead of "Wow this MF sucks, she's trying to duel Vayne when she's behind."
The more people play and the more people learn from their play, the higher level the play (and therefore the casting) will be, but you could also do analysis for higher level games or even professional level games. I'm sure plenty of people would be interested in analysis of LCS games, even.
