I give up, it's impossible to "shut down" Nasus and Trynd at top lane.

So tired of hearing the "HURR DURR SHUT THEM DOWN EARLY" excuse to explain how these abominations are balanced. Doesn't matter if you kill them in lane, because there's no way in Hell you're snowballing off them if they can instantly heal back whatever health they lose off a trade with godly innate sustain. Seriously, I thought Riot was supposedly trying to get rid of that bull****?

Carry Harder

Now that that's out of the way, Jax has a pretty good time against Trynd, and carries just as hard. Fiora crushes them both.

What you should try to keep in mind is that if the enemy team is taking a late-game monster to top-lane, and you aren't confident enough in your ability to crush them early and end the game, then take another late-game champion up there. Doesn't matter if it's Vayne or whomever.

Trynda is actually pretty easy to shut down, by building things like Randuins, Frozen Heart, Ninja Tabi and sometimes Thornmail.

Nasus? Pick someone with a very strong early game like Renekton, Riven, Rengar, Darius and try to get fed, then press your advantage by roaming and helping take objectives.

Still doesn't stop Trynd from splitpushing. And how the hell am I suppose to harass him out of lane with tank items?

I've actually used that exact strategy on Nasus. Again, it doesn't work. What do you do if you pick one of those and he just stacks armor nonstop? You can build tanky, and your harass immediately falls off, or you can build offense, which will hurt you in teamfights and still won't be enough to stop him from just lifestealing it all back with his sustain.

Hi, Diamond 2 (Was D1) Top laner, Renekton main.

You don't 'shut down' Nasus and Trynd. They have the trade-off of a weak laning phase with little kill-potential for monstrous late game. In Solo Queue, go aggressive on them early and try to end the game before they scale out of control. I rarely win games against this match-up with Renekton if the game gets to 30+ minutes.

You can't shut them down if it gets to late game. It's just not possible, their kits are designed to scale heavily off of tons of farm. I find that breaking the enemy team's morale is the best way to win games early. Try to dominate the lane or roam and gank a lot. If they start raging at each other, you can usually force the surrender.

Don't let it get to the team-fighting stage.

Nasus and trynd arn't nearly as breaking as the forum whiners make them out to be. The fact of the matter is they pretty much have to spend the whole game farming/pushing top to excel. In solo queue this concept doesn't work too well all the time given your team is bound to throw themselves into 4v5s and pretty much feed the enemy team some easy quadras. Now if you get a smart team who understands your purpose is to spend all your time top, then sure your golden, but in solo queue that is pretty unpredictable.

Basically this, pretty much the main reason why I play so much Renekton since if I can dominate the lane the enemy team will just give up.

Unfortunately as I got higher into Diamond, my enemies started understanding that late game matters more than anything else.
