Quick Guide to Genkibowl VII *Spoilers*

#1RobotPirteGhostPosted 1/17/2012 12:45:01 PM
I haven't seen one of these yet, I'm throwing together a quick Guide to Genkibowl VII. Included is descriptions and brief strategies for the new activities, an unlockables list, and achievement tips. Please note that this is the first time I've done something like this, so bear with me.

Contents:
1: What is Genibowl VII?
2: New activities and strategies
3: Unlockables
4: Achievement list and tips.

Section 1: What is Genibowl VII?
Genibowl VII is a DLC mission/activity pack for Saints Row The Third. It contains 4 new activities (with 2 instances of each), 2 cutscenes, 3 new vehicles (and recolors of three current vehicles), several Homies, and 4 customization items. It costs 560 MSP ($7) or it comes with the Season Pass.

If you have the Season Pass, but can't find Genkibowl in the in-game store, exit the game and download the "Viewer Pack the First" from the Marketplace. It's free and will unlock access to Genkibowl (and the free Cheapy D homie). For non-season pass holders, the Viewer Pack simply allows you to play Co-Op with someone who has Genkibowl if you do not.

Section 2: New activities and strategies
Activity 1: Apocalypse Genki
This activity is a slightly newer version of Super Ethical Reality Climax, so the same rules apply. Kill mascots and evade traps to make enough money to open the exit. The only new thing is the shark infested water, which you can throw mascots into for extra money and an achievement. Brutes spawn when you hit half of the cash target. 1 flamethrower brute spawns in the first instance, while 3 mini-gun brutes spawn in the second

Activity 2: Super Ethical PR Opportunity
This one is a twisted version of Escort, where you drive Professor Genki himself to his live appearance. This one can be a little confusing at first. You must increase Genkis pleasure by running over pedestrians, while avoiding Genki fans. Being close to fans increases Genkis annoyance, and when it maxes out you fail the activity. While you are driving him, Genki will make requests, usually killing a specific target or 2, but he may also ask you to roast a number of peds with the cars flamethrowers, which are explained below.

The car is outfitted with 4 flamethrowers, 2 facing forward and one on each side, but they don't seem to work at first. You have to run over pedestrians until the four red lights on the back of the car turn green, then you can use the flamethrowers until they run out (indicated by the lights changing back to red).

Activity 3: Sexy Kitten Yarngasm
This is a rather fun take on Tank Mayhem, only instead of a tank you have a giant ball of yarn. Roll it around with the left stick and run over everything you can! You can also unlock shockwaves (though to be honest I'm not sure what triggers it) and unleash them with RT. The shockwave travels a short distance from the ball and destroys everything it hits, so it's great for extending combos. However, the ball can get stuck pretty easily in my experience, so avoid hitting poles and other things you can't knock over or wreck.

Activity 4: Sad Panda Skyblazing
Take skydiving, SERC, and trail blazing and throw them into a blender and this comes out. You have to dive through the rings, land on marked rooftops (they'll a have a red triangle over them) to kill mascots, and then relaunch via rooftop Man-a-paults and repeat until reaching the landing zone. It sounds strange, but it'll make more sense when you see it.

Tips:
- To win, you have to hit the cash target before landing. You gain cash by killing the rooftop mascots and by flying through rings. Though you can ignore the rings and just go for mascots and still win.
-Hitting Tiger ballons gives you a height boost allowing you to get to higher rings and rooftops.
-You can only stay on a rooftop for a limited time. If you can't kill all the mascots before time runs out, head for a Man-a-pault and launch into air, then immediately turn around and head back. The timer will reset when you land again, giving you time to take out the remaining mascots.

Section 3: Unlockables
Listed by activity and instance.
Apocalypse Genki 1 - Angry Tiger Mask (under Head in wardrobe. Also buyable from stores so you can change the colors)

Apocalypse Genki 2 - Angry Tiger Homie (unfortunately she's not an actual tiger)

Super Ethical PR Opportunity 1 - Nothing.

Super Ethical PR Opportunity 2 - Genkimobile (has the flamethrowers, but you still have to run over peds to activates them)

Sexy Kitten Yarngasm 1 - Verminator (Mouse themed ATV)

Sexy Kitten Yarngasm 2 - Sexy Kitten Homie, Yarnie Homie (brings you the giant ball of yarn), Yarngasm Vehicles (pink recolors of the Kayak, Solar, and Criminal), and Sexy Kitten Mask (under Head in wardrobe. Also buyable from stores so you can change the colors)

Sad Panda Skyblazing 1 - Sad Panda Homie (not an actual Panda)

Sad Panda Skyblazing 2 - Panda Outfit (suit and Mask) and Tammy Tolliver Homie.

Note on the Yarnie Homie: The reason you get a Yarnie Homie instead of the yarnie being available in your garage is because it doesn't fit in any of them. You have to call Yarnie homie every time you want to use the Yarnie.

Section 4: Achievement list and tips
Feeding Time - Throw 5 Mascots in to the water in a single instance of Apocalypse Genki.
Fairly easy to do in instance 2. There are 4 unarmed mascots right at the begining with water behind them, so that's a good place to start. Just watch out for the bridge.

Murder in the Jungle - Finish both instances of Apocalypse Genki.
No explanation needed

Get off My Back - Destroy 5 chase vehicles (in a single instance of Super Ethical PR Opportunity).
Easy. Hit peds until the flamethowers fire up, then head towards the chase vehicles and light 'em up. Note that you don't have to win the activity to get the achievement, so it's doesn't matter if you fail afterwards.

Cooked To Perfection - Roast 50 peds with the car's flamethrower (in a single instance of Super Ethical PR Opportunity).
Fun tip: you don't need to have Genki in the car to do this. Avoid him, and hit peds, then roast them with the flamethrowers. It's easier to do with the front ones while moving slow. Without Genki, no chase vehicles show up and there's no time limit so you can take as much time as necccessary. Again, you don't have to win afterwards

Storm the Yarn - Destroy a mouse ATV during Sexy Kitten Yarngasm.
Easy. You'll probably hit one just rolling around.

C-C-C-Combo Breaker - Cause $150,000 worth of damage in a single Sexy Kitten Yarngasm combo.
Destroy stuff in quick succession to maintain a combo. If it's running out, use a shockwave to help extend your combo. And don't just run over vehicles, Hit fences, the decorations, and anything else that will break when you hit it.

Flame On - Fly through all of the rings (in a single instance of Sad Panda Skyblazing).
I find it easier to do this when ignoring the mascots entirely and just flying through the rings. Not landing means you can't get dissoriented and go off in the wrong direction. Again, you don't have to win afterwards

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - Kill all of the rooftop mascots (in a single instance of Sad Panda Skyblazing).
I find this easier in instance 2, while mostly ignoring the rings. There are 5 rooftops to clear out and you only have a chainsaw to do it with. Remember the tips from the SPSB section above. Just head from rooftop to rooftop and it should be fairly easy. Again, you don't have to win afterwards

Stick the Landing - Land on Magarac Island (in Sad Panda Skyblazing).
The landing zone for instance 1 is on Magarac anyway, so just head for it and you'll get this one. Again, you don't have to win afterwards

Genki Bowl Champ - Complete all activity instances in Genki Bowl VII
Self explanitory.

Hopefully this helps anybody having trouble with Genki bowl and/or reduces the number of questions about it. Or it gets buried. One of the two.

Do you need to beat ALL instances of the Activities to view the ending cut-scene?

Never mind. It must not have downloaded correctly the first time. I redownloaded and got the prompt on how to access it via my cell phone.

Yep, all 8 of them must be completed. The first 6 have to be completed before Skyblazing unlocks. Finishing both instances of that leads to the ending.
