Just finished the game, question for those who played Saint Row 2

I was thinking of posting this on the Saint Row 2 forum but it's pretty much dead, so i'm trying it here. I just finished Saint Row 3, loved the game. I never played the 2 previous games but today i picked up Saint Row 2 and i'm going to play it.

But before i start is there somehting i should know about the second one ? Like important stuff to focus on, stuff that's NOT so important and so on ? Any tips would be appreciated.

i haven't played The Third yet, but i hear that it's respect/mission progression is different than SR2. in SR2, you have to earn respect to continue with story missions, so if you're next to an activity (like insurance fraud) that catches your eye, don't hesitate to do it--it will allow you to play the story missions more freely down the road.

it's a phenomenal game.

In Saints Row 2 the Rep thing isn't as bad, you can get it randomly by driving easily.

In the 1st one, it's much more difficult.

The second one feels a bit less streamlined imo. I felt more like I was playing something like say GTA: SA in that one than I do playing this. This game definitely has more refined gameplay mechanics and all that, but it felt like SR2 had more in it to me, while SR3 is basically just like an MMO that sells 500 DLC packs.

I found SR2 to generally be a bit harder, but I consider that to be a good thing. As others have said, SR3 is more refined, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's a better game. SR2 has more of everything, really.

I disagree, I have found SR1 to be extremely frustrating at times.

I meant SR2 is harder in comparison to SR3. SR1 can be frustrating, yes, mostly due to controls/camera stuff.

Ah, well in that case I agree with you.

Saints Row 1, it was just easier to die and get swarmed, then there's no system of checkpoints.

Oh god, the f***ing Carnales missions made me want to punch a wall

Ugh, don't remind me! I really enjoyed that game, but I've had no desire to play through again because of that stuff, lol.

Understandably so.

This is actually my first playthrough of it (Played 2 first), so it's been a unique experience.
