Other Better Tower Defense Games
From the Gamespot review: "The strategy is adequate for those desperate to indulge, but there are more engaging, clever, and fun tower defense games to play." I hate it when they say that there are other better alternative games to play but don't bother to give any examples. Anyone know what other TD games he may be referring to? I'm a TD fanatic and play mostly WC3 custom maps and iPod apps so I don't know what console/PC TD games there are. Master of Defense? Savage Moon? Defense Grid: The Awakening?
I'm new to the Tower Defense genre but I love it. If you have a PS3, I highly recommend PixelJunk Monsters. I love that game and it was the first Tower Defense I've ever played. It also has co-op. --- Gamertag: Escobar4LifeX PSN ID: ChitoCrisis
Better Tower Defense Games Available on Xbox = None. I am desperate to induldge this genre on the Xbox, and I have played better on the PC. But the only other option on Xbox is a community game that this is certainly better than. So that complaint is retarded, not everyone has a PS3 to go buy PixelJunk and whatever else is on it. As for what is better, I always loved WC3 maps, I really liked Arkguil and some others that I can't remember the names of. They required teamwork to play though. As for flash games I use http://www.kongregate.com/ at work at times and Crystal Defenders is about on par with the ones I play there. I do like the freeform nature of desktop defense better myself (being able to create your own maze) --- Good is a point of view - Palpatine, Star Wars Episode III
Oh and I have defense grid on PC - It was quite good, I would recommend it. Supposdly it is coming to xbox but who knows when. --- Good is a point of view - Palpatine, Star Wars Episode III
whatever else is on it. Savage Moon, there's only two. I own neither. --- "Your mom likes guys!" | Women are like squared numbers, if they're under thirteen just do 'em in your head! Brawl: 1633-3854-7464
Ninjatown on the ds is fun, though its rather short. Lock's Quest is not bad --- This site gives 1.1 cups of food for each click a day. Please click it http://www.thehungersite.com
Savage Moon is actually a pretty good TD. I've almost gotten it completely beaten. And that was only two days of playing for maybe an hour and a half each play. The only real draw back of it is that it's rather easy. Once you get the layout of each map, and enemy pathing, it's really easy. It does have an "infinite mode" for each map though which is awesome. That's probably the only hard part to it really. All in all a decent TD if you have a PS3 and $10. I agree with Gabbel that the best TDs are on WC3. I'll also point out that Starcraft has some good ones too. If you go the SC route be prepared to either host, or lag. You may lag anyways if you host. Lotta laggers on there for some reason. Old game, old code, and users with old pcs/connections is my guess. If you go the WC route, I'd suggest the Burbenog TD, Bow TD, Slam Solo TD. Those are some of my favorites. Best I think is Burb. It's 4 player, though can be done with less. Really challenging, 40+ waves, 4 difficulty settings, and prolly something like 140+ different towers, and ability to purchase heros if ya want. The 140+ tower comes from being able to select a main build type (poison, ice, fire, ect), and then each type has like 12 towers. --- GT = Dm9982 Wii # - 7175 3384 0558 1861
TNF4Life posted... Wow that looks like an awesome game, especially with local co-op, one day I'll be able to afford a PS3 hah.
I checked out Kongregate and it looks fantastic, I'm always looking for flash game websites, especially TDs. And yes, I totally agree with you, the ability to maze in TDs is a reason why I'll still playing WC3 maps. I hope developers utilize freeform TDs! I have an infatuation with spiral mazes :P Gabbelgak posted... Thanks, here's to a short xbox release date! :) Wandering__Hero posted... I've heard of those games before and merely glanced over them, I didn't know they were TD-esque. I have a DS-phat so I'll give them a good rentalling over. Yes, Blockbuster allows DS rentals o.0 PS, I clicked! dm9982 posted... I've been on WC3 for a while and I've never heard of Burbenog TD, I'll try it out. I've been playing random TDs recently, like Element TD, Gem TD, Massacre TD, Stackerz TD, and a whole lotta Mauls, xD
Burb is truely an awesome TD. 40+ Waves. (40 on easy, 41 on normal, 42 on hard, and I haven't beaten expert on it yet). Ability to select difficulty at the start of the map, plus 12 different races (class types, like poison, ice, ect.) with multiple tower types. And it's co-op. 2-4 players. I recommend all 4. Best TD on WC. --- GT = Dm9982 Wii # - 7175 3384 0558 1861 |
