Use War Tapes!

Purely Computer speakers?

Nah, Z-5500 take second string, actually. It has nice highs and lows, but it's middles are muddy and it's bass distorts easily.

Edifer S550 are superior to the Z-5500 in all aspects, and about the same price. We're talking Computer speakers, and 5.1 sets here, for 7.1, the Creative Gigaworks S750 takes that.

It's Subwoofer is more powerful, it uses less Wattage, but more effectively into each speaker, it users higher quality audio parts to achieve this, instead of the Z-5500 which just uses raw power.

Logitech / Creative make good computer parts, but FAR from the best.

You can Google it, it's a common term.

Z-2300 are praised with reviews from non-audiophiles. Listen, they're good for the average user, but do not claim them to be the best, that is my issue.

I use it purely because footsteps are actually audible with it.

I got the feeling that all the echoes muffled foot steps, but I haven't played a whole lot with it. The reverb inside houses is ridiculous.

oh hot damn i had no idea that's what you call those things. I was thinking of some big ass tower sets.

Regardless, Z-2300 are easily one of the best 2.1 systems on the market. I actually prefer 2.1 to a stereo set, because the sound is usually crisper and more defined, plus it works well with a desktop setup. Sorry, but some of us actually do work with our PCs.

I do work on mine, too. I'm just stating you're incorrect about them being some of the best 2.1 on the market. They're good for general users who don't care about the sound quality, i.e, the average user or someone who just types for work or so.

If your using headphones, don't you just choose the headphones setting or is War Tapes better?

#26Mkilbride2588Posted 3/13/2010 8:36:51 PM
I'm using a set of Sennheiser 595 Headphones, and I use Wartapes.

Though I set the Speakercount to 6, and set Windows to 5.1, and use my Soundcard's control panel to use CMSS-3D which gives me accurate 5.1 surround sound positioning.

You can do both, but war tapes still has a more "epic battlefield" sound to it IMO.

I finally was able to try out my 5.1 headset with war tapes and it is great in terms of foot steps. I'll probaly stick with my speakers though due to the bass. War tapes is just so amazing.

Anyone know if the consoles have WTs as a sound feature?

Probably auto-detected on consoles, it uses Dolby Digital, so if your TV Set has an A/V Receiver and it's hooked up that way, then probably.
