they always go to random places and i can't direct them to the right destination

Unless it's changed, the cattle should start moving in the opposite direction of you once you get them to move, which means that you herd them by being on the opposite side of where you want them to go. --- Xiahou Mao, True Hero of the Three Kingdoms!

Go to your Mount and Blade folder and look for menus.txt.
Search for "Drive_the_cattle_onward" in the txt file.
Change that value I bold to [b]10[/b]. They should follow you now instead of run the opposite direction. The official forums is down, you could search for other fixes because the game really needs quite some tweaking if you want a great experience. --- Be careful about reading health books.
