So, is Adol supposed to be doing the good or bad thing here?

SPOILERS

I know our party is the protaganist group, but...are they the good guys? I haven't beaten rul-ende yet, so if it all works out okay in the end then this question is a waste.

Why would you think you're the 'bad guys'? The default position is that Adol is the good guy unless we have reason to believe otherwise.

well, the cycle of rebirth has been going on for ages in altago, and the party has no idea if destroying rul-ende will have a positive or negative affect. For all they know, killing the root could have ended the cycle permanently by having no rebirth when the land and inhabitants die. I mean, I'm sure it works of in the end or there would be a ton of complaint topics, but really.

I tend to agree with you, but everything happening in Altago--and only Altago--is a mess. I'd argue that what Adol is doing is right on the grounds that starting over involves erasing Altago as we know it. Aren't there a few NPCs, even, that you've grown to care about? I don't want that cranky, mouthy (read: hilarious) old lady in the old part of the city to end up in the Well just yet.

A counterargument is that the Dragons certainly seem to...not care either way. They let the Iskan Eldress do what she needs to but yield to you and empower you as you go. I don't know. Finish up, are you stuck at the last fight or something?

Unless you're in REALLY bad shape, you may be able to just do it with a lot of dodgingTM. It was a struggle for me, but I made it through.

The weapon dogi had was adding around 50. Mishera was decently geared, but you can't play mishera for that because her homing always ignores the heads, and elk had even worse gear than dogi. None have above lvl 1 in any skill.

Alrighty, then, gl...all you really should have to do it get enough materials at the area near the bottom of the well (Moonstones? Soul Stones? Something like that.,..), like you're probably doing, to get Elk a better weapon. Then you're set.
