Max Payne has been through some F***** up S***. Max maybe wanted to change his life and forget of all the tragedy that he went through? I think he had a good reason to move to a different place than bland ass NYC. Maybe South America could re-invigorate his spirit.
I am excited for a new game and location but it is a double edged sword because people will hate the game due to lack of NYC and people would hate the game for being stale for being in NYC
I want Max Payne 3 not Max Payne 2 1/2
Go ahead and flame...

This doesn't look like May Payne 3. It looks like Splinter Cell.
I dunno about you guys, but when I want to forget my terrible past, I move to an area with drug cartel, shave my head, grow a mighty fine beard, and get totally ripped.
max payne 1+2 were awsome
im gonna pick it up on xbox for my 360
such classic slo mo
not many games like it
I played both and am a huge and very devoted fan. Excellent games, it may be hard to remember but the first was actually very groundbreaking. I'm wondering if maybe the shots shown so far are of a different playable character, maybe a multiplayer mode, I dunno. I find it pretty hard to believe that what we're seeing so far is the whole story, I think Rockstar is leaving the bulk of it out. Max will show up and he might just bring NYC with him.
^i wish that were true
but i think you may be in denial lol

You're probably right. It's just so hard to picture film noire in the new setting, I hope they dial it somehow, chances are they will though, if you look at their past efforts it may help to refill some of the ol' faith. Max's gritty monologue had better come back in full force, NYC at Christmas is just about the perfect setting for it but who knows, these guys have done it before, hopefully they'll surprise us and do it again.
Yes, Sprinkle777, I believe its' safe to say that many of us have played MP1 and MP2. I can give you many reasons why many people are not as excited as they should be about MP3, but here are the two big ones:
1. We all like MP1 and MP2. Who was the developer for those games? Remedy. Who is developing this game? Rockstar.
2. Who was writer for MP1 and MP2? Sam Lake. Who is the writer for MP3? NOT Sam Lake.
There are a lot of potential issues Max Payne fans may have with MP3, but those two are amongst the bigger reasons for many fans. Max Payne was never about the multiplayer; it was about developing a great story with great writing and those two areas have changed with MP3. Obviously this game isn't released and we will all reserve judgment until we try it out, but after reading the article in GI, I am not looking forward to MP3 as much as I should be; and I'm not the only one.
I play both games at least 1-2 times a year. They are some of most brilliantly written games both in dialogue and in story. They put any MGS game, which many consider to be the Holy Grail of video game storytelling to shame.
I will have a hard time getting used to Max having a different VA. I also will have a hard time seeing him all buffed up. Again though, the physical look of Max changed drastically between the first 2 games as well, so maybe it won't be too off putting.
I have faith in Rockstar, and I have been looking forward to a new MP game for a very long time. Time will only tell if it turns out to be on par with Remedy's 2 masterpieces.
Don't Taze Me Bro!
I have played MP1 and 2, enjoyed them both. I also don't have an issue with the game leaving NYC. I just don't like how much they changed Max Payne i mean he looks nothing like the way he did. I don't know much of the story yet but i hope they keep that grahpic novel format and keep the story good. But when it comes to story i cant think of a game that rockstar did that had a great story. As for a mp mode i don't mind as long as the single player is great and long no need for a 5 hour game u know with so-so mp.
