I haven`t played any other silent hill game before.Do you think SM would be a good start on the PS2?

No, not really, since the core silent hill gameplay was changed for this one.

Start with SH1 or SH2, if you like them then play the others. SH3 is also similar, but the story is linked to SH1, so it's preffered to play that one first. SH4 takes a slightly different approach to combat, but it's basically more of the same.

Origins -> 1 -> 3
2, 4, and Homecomeing, are stand alone stories with small ties to each other.

But isn`t SM a remake of SH1?

Hey RajKhn! But Isn`t SM a remake of SH1?

Personally, I haven't been following this game much, but I hear it's a re-tale of the original story. I have the impression if you play this, and then play the first one, they'll feel 2 totally different games.

I say you should start with the first 4 because they represent better what best Silent Hill had. SHM is a different gameplay style, and may lack of the artistic/macabre details the first few 4 had. I didn't play Origins yet btw, it doesn't seem like a bad one either.

I'm not convinced yet. I don't think it is personally after following the title. The Harry in this game might not be -the- Harry Mason and might in fact be some other nutbag.
