How do you get the BoS to fight for you?

I've done all of the Wild card:side bets missions EXCEPT dismissing the brotherhood of steel. I've completed all of the missions for the brotherhood of steel, I'm an actual member, but I can't for some reason get them to help in the hoover dam war! Is there any way to recruit them, or do I have to ignore them?

Did you put Hardin in charge, or did you leave McNamara in place?

I'm pretty sure you can't get their help. The only reasons to join them would be power armor training, and their weapons dealer has some of the best weapons in the game.

Everyone else asks you to kill them. So the only way to get them to help would be to take Vegas and the Dam for yourself with Yes Man but I didn't get that option.

McNamara is still the elder and he was even talking about coming out of isolation at the end of that side quest. now when i talk to him he just talks about why they need to be isolated.

Dont think you can if you promote the head paladin

i've heard lots of people say that you can form an alliance between the NCR and BoS if you keep McNamara in charge

found this in the wiki on the For the Republic, Part 2 article

Alternatively, you can play through the quest Still in the Dark. As long as you stay on good terms with the Brotherhood, and McNamara remains Elder, a truce can be signed between the Brotherhood and the NCR. Note, however, that doing this will reduce your reputation with the NCR.

doesn't really say how to initiate the truce but does this mean i have to wait for the NCR quests to activate?

When Moore asks you to destroy the brotherhood you can talk to the elder and he'll sign a truce with the NCR and some paladins in t-45d armor will help you in the final mission, which is odd considering most of the ones in the bunker wear the t-51b armor. I think you need really high rep with the brotherhood and no hardin leading to do it though.
