Do DLC perks work on GRA weapons?

#1FrolexPosted 9/28/2011 1:08:38 AM
i.e. does grunt boost damage on the assault carbine (GRA)?

Yes they do. Though I wouldn't be surprised if you encountered a glitch.

This makes me question how many more weapons don't work with the right perks. and if it's bad enough is the gun runners arsenal weapons worth it.

You don't get it: it isn't possible to make that weapon work with Grunt. The list that Grunt uses only exists in the data files for Honest Hearts, so you can't add the GRA weapon to it without making the GRA pack require Honest Hearts, which isn't going to happen.

If the perk is in the base game, any list it uses will be in the base game data files, and scripts can then easily add to those lists. If the perk comes from DLC, there's a good chance it won't, and can't, apply to these new weapons.

This. DLC can only affect itself and the vanilla game, because otherwise you basically force the game to require the other DLCs to run. Hopefully in the event of a complete edition they'll at least be nice enough to edit these little things to work if everything's on one disc.

I don't think you know what your talking about. That same Assault Carbine is affected by the Lonesome Road Perk and Thought You Died Perk. Both perks coming from Lonesome Road and they affect the GRA Assault Carbine.

Its a bug. Plain and simple.

That's cute, but you don't understand the game's structure. Those perks in Lonesome Road don't have any conditions set on the Calculate Weapon Damage entry points they use. With no conditions, this means the simply affect all forms of damage you cause. The Grunt perk has an IsInList check run on your weapon though, so it only affects some items. Normally, you can simply create a script that uses the AddFormToFormList function to add the new weapon base IDs to the existing form list. However, the form list Grunt checks is part of the Honest Hearts data files. In order to have access to those files in GRA, Honest Hearts would need to be loaded as a master.

So yeah... It won't happen, and it's not a bug.

I maybe the only one but everything you just said went over my head. AddFormtoformlist? Part of HH data files? IsInList?! What the hell dude? Lmao. Whatever.
