It seems like it does everything good ol' Pulsey could do, plus significantly more damage... or am I just crazy?

The Pulse Gun does more bonus EMP damage. The Sonic Emitter does higher base damage and has crazy effects. You tell me.

The Pulse Gun is superior in terms of fighting robots. The Sonic Emitter has the special crit. effects, and the force-field disabling effects on its side.

I'd use the Pulse Gun for practicality and the Sonic Emitter for fun.

The Pulse Gun is still perfectly strong in its niche for taking on Power Armour and robots, but the Sonic Emitter certainly has a greater versatility, having about five separate frequencies that all have different effects on their criticals, and generally being stronger against everything that isn't a robot.

Finn, you haven't done Lonesome Road yet, have you?

The Pulse Gun is vastly superior for fighting robots and power armor. The effect on the Sonic Emitter is no where near the Pulse Gun's level. The Pulse Gun is useless in any other situation already, so, no, the Sonic Emitter doesn't make it obsolete.

The Sonic Emitter, however, is useful against non-robot enemies, so it does have that advantage.

The Pulse Gun only weighs 2 pounds, so, it isn't like there is any reason not to carry it around at all times.

The Hyperbreeder makes both the Emitter and Pulse obsolete.

I have not. I'm running through OWB now -- I took a break to finish up the Dragon Age DLC when I hit level 45 until LR dropped, and, by then, I was neck deep in DA II. I only just got back to NV.

Does it do EMP damage? I may have missed that.

When it comes to taking down robotics, I never leave home without my pulse gun.
