And why are they weak to Fighting?

Think about it. In films and stuff all the normal people get their ass kicked by the people who kick all sorts of ass.

You can't tackle a ghost. Normal type moves can't affect Ghost types for that reason.

Normal type pokemon are immune to Ghost type moves to separate the "Normal" and the "Paranormal".

Normal type pokemon are weak to Fighting type moves probably because Fighting type moves are essentially an "advanced normal". If you got into a fight, you might Tackle someone or Body Slam them (not really, but it's untrained fighting.. ;P), but someone who's a trained fighter would do a proper Low Kick or Karate Chop (for example) and down you go. ;D

Normal types have the advantage of learning many other type attacks. For example, A Wigglytuff has the ability to know Ice Bean, Thunder, Shadow Ball and Flamethrower. Thus making it super effective against: Flying, Grass, Rock, Ground, Steel, Water, etc

But then those elemental abilities don't get the damage boost because they lack the correct affinity for said types. Like teaching a Marowak flamethrower wouldn't save it from a Venusaur because the damage would be pathetic.

Normal is like the neutral type. All pokemon can learn normal moves, and normal type pokemon are usually very versatile.

Plus, it would make moves like Double-Edge, Hyper Beam, and Giga Impact very, very annoying.

Come to think of it, why ARE Normal types immune to Ghost?

Because normal people don't believe in ghosts.

Let's make Normal super effective against Grass. Grass needs a nerf.
