I don't understand what they do. Whats so good about the adamant nature and why does everyone want it?

+10% one attribute
-10% in another

Neutral natures increase and decrease the same stat, no net gain.

Adamant is used for purely physical attackers / sweepers:

+ Atk
- Sp. Atk

Natures give a +10% boost to a stat and a -10% loss to another. Over time, those boosts will accumulate to some pretty nifty stat gains. Adamant is good because it lowers special attack and increases attack, so pokemon with atrocious special attack but great attack, like Gyarados, Adamant is good.

It depends on your pokemon, and you might get your Kofi Kingston wish after the money in the bank PPV

There is no best nature, the most appropriate one depends on the Pokemon and your intended use for it.

For example Alakazam would want either a Modest or Timid nature for the benefit to Sp.Atk or Speed while taking away from his useless Atk stat.

The best nature is whatever the pokemon will benefit from.

Go to www.serebii.net and look up their base stats and see what nature matches the best.

Smogon works too.

depends on the pokemon, but the general consensus is to steer away from the "neutral" natures (serious, bashful, hardy, quirky, docile) as they don't give boosts. Granted, they don't decrease a stat gain, but that means a pokemon will lose out on some needed boosts.

There is no "best" nature, although many natures are good for specific pokemon.

For example, with "Adamant" nature, it drops Sp. Attack 10%, and ups Attack 10%. On pokemon like Gyarados who use physical moves (Waterfall, Stone Edge, etc), but NOT special moves (Surf, Ice Beam, etc), this is a great nature, since you get an increase in a stat you use, and a decrease in one you don't use.

Conversely, Adamant would be a terrible nature for, say, an Alakazam.
Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
