Where did the Nuzlocke run originate from?

I understand the whole concept of the idea, in which if your Pokemon faints you release it. But where did the whole term come into place? Was it an anime episode that appeared, or a Pokedex entry of some sort?

Just use google for christ sakes - Ill help you out.

First type in Nuzlocke Challenge Origins then look through the pages.

It came from some kid who got bored of the game and made a challenge for himself - some other kid then turned it into a Comic called Ruby Hard Mode: The Comic - you can google that too if you wanna check it out. After that 4chan among other websites took the idea and started using it and then turned it into a meme.

Thus the Nuzlocke Challenge was born.

It's not so much that 4chan "took" the idea, as that the guy who created the concept was a frequent poster on /v/ and posted his comics there first. So 4chan, specifically /v/ (I hate people ignorantly lumping all the boards at 4chan together...), is pretty much the origin of the craze.

"Nuzlocke" is a portmanteau of Nuzleaf and Locke (of Lost fame). I don't watch Lost, so I have no idea what that is in reference to, but there it is...

The comics are oftentimes Hi-larious! A couple of the fan made ones are good too.

I like to read fantasy, but I don't believe in it. I'm proud to make reality based decisions.

4chan deserves nothing, why bother defending it. Everyone on 4chan is ignorant pedophiles and its disgusting. Your /v/ board is nothing but disgusting pornography and sometimes there is a thread about videogames im sure, but its about Cammy "teaming up with" Chun-Li.

Guy who "made" the runs was a draw...gaf on /v/, started posting his comics. Then he made his own website(nuzlocke.com) and here we are today.
