Hi there, I've been meaning to do this for a good 6 months now. Anyway, let me at least get the rules up, as I only have my phone to post from regularly so they take longer than I'd like. Rules: Death by 'massive damage' and sent to box named Shoel: -OHKO from 80% or more -Critical hit w/less than 40% Pokemon 'retired' if KO'd twice other wise and sent to box named Florida. Catching: -1 per route but can choose method (fishing, surfing, ect); however, it's still 1st non-duplicate evo line per method. -Can catch others for storyline uses but they CANNOT see battle -Route=differrent numbered routes, towns, and parts of caves that have very different level of pokemon, ie Union caves main part has lvl 5-10ish pokemon with deeper 20+ -Pokewalker: 1 'mon pre-national dex, 1 post-national dex. Must decide at time of transfers, not after looking at summary. Other mon are kept but cannot battle. -Gift 'mon can be used in battle and don't count towards catch/route. -1 Ledgend with a BST of under 600 can be caught and used to battle. Roamers don't count against catch/area but stationary do and must be declared as the method of that area, ie, 'I'm catchimg Articuno' when entering Seafoam Islands. Pokemon Centers: -After 4th badge recieved when I first get to Mohaganny Town (spelling) I can use their Center but no more after this, they all close for good until Nuzlocke ends. -1 leppa berry can be traded over from Diamond if I have yet to recieve one. -can still use computer but must heal 'mon placed therein. Trading: -Leppa as stated but must make effort to gain in game, spending time rock smashing for shards and playing the game in Golden Rod Department store. -In game trades are okay but can only battle if the pokemon traded fit the guidelines above -Can only trade w/other carts to evolve and that only after 8th badge recieved. Battles: -No running from wild 'mon -Set style •Death rules/faint count start at Violet City, other rules as soon as aplicable. Well, that's all of them. Just want to add a few thoughts. I have read many a 'locke but it always got me that any time a 'mon fainted for the good guys it resulted in a death, which is why I'm using a non standard death clause. There were other thoughts but they've run away from me at this late hour (post written in two sittings). The 'locke is underway so I'll hopefully get a good start to the writtimg and have something up tommorrow night/morning.
Interesting rules man. So in-depth. Tracking. --- --- LG Nuzlocke Team: Percy (Blastoise), Sora (Pidgeot), Xena (Primeape), Bronte (Electrode), Eremos (Sandslash)
Man, got off late tonight and a bit fried. Hopefully can make it to library tomorrow and get a nice first post up.
Second Chances part 1 I grunt and blindly reach for my phone to turn off the alarm. I've learned over the years that it takes me a good half hour to get out of bed after the alarm goes off and so have adapted and started to set two alarms: one a half hour before I normally would set my alarm and one when my alarm would normally go off. This was merely the 30 minute warning so I autopilot it off and roll over. 'Mike! Mike! It's time to get up, you wouldn't want to be late to start your new position, would you?' Again I grunt but this time get my self into sitting position on the bed, if rather sluggishly. I look down at myself and grimace, the years haven't been kind. As I get out of bed and get ready for my first day as Elms assistant my mind wanders back and I know that I don't regret these last years. At one point I was an up and coming trainer in Kanto, had 5 badges but right after my last badge bad news arrived: my mom had suffered a massive heart attack. I left behind my life as a trainer to care for her only to watch her suffer two 'minor' strokes. I then gave away my pokemon I had left, my dear friends, to take a second job to pay for better care of my mom. That hurt but eventually my mom started to get better and we got an inheritance from my grand mom when she passed away in a far off region. These last few years saw me go from a care taker to an older student in college, where I finally got my masters in 'Pokemon Sciences.' And that brought us here to New Bark Town in Johto and my first position as a pokemon researcher. I finished up and headed downstairs where I saw my mom in her new motorized scouter, which gave her way more mobility than before. After breakfast I headed over to Elms and on the way saw the towns two young trainers, Ethan and Lyra, playing with their Marrill. I smiled at the sight which always brought back fond memories of that time so long ago. I arrived at the lab to see Elm at his desk reading something on his computer intently. He noticed me approaching and said, 'Great timing Mike! I have and errand for you in a bit...' He stopped himself with a chuckle, 'First things first, no?' He lead me from his office to the lab propper to a machine with three pokeballs on it. 'These are my new pokemon I'm researching. I'd like to chronicle the evolutionary process with these three and that's why I hired you, knowing your past as a accomplished trainer. My plan is for you, Ethan and Lyra all to take and train one and report on the progress. I'll let you have the first pick.' I looked at the display and saw a mouse that seemed to be on fire, a bi-pedal crocodile and a quadruped with.a leaf on the head. I thought the latter cute, the former seemed rather cool and the middle one sturdy. An old instinct kicked in while examining the crocodile, one long foegotten. My old trainers instinct was kicking in, as if this was the right pokemon. 'I'll take the Tododile, if you don't mind.' 'Interesting, thought you'd go for the Cyndiquill given your history.' 'Picking Enfuego back in the day?' Seeing his confusion, 'My Charmeleon.' 'Yes, figured you had an affinity for fire types.' 'Yeah, fire types are cool but my trainers instinct is kicking in big time looking at nis picture, I learned to trust it.' 'Okay, lets meet your partner.' The Tododile popped out. 'Hi there Benaiah.' Benaiah: lvl 5, Rash nature, alert to sounds. 'Now, about that errand I mentioned...' Elm filled me in on the e-mail he recieved from his friend and that he wanted me to go pick it up at his place East of Violet City. 'No prob, be back soon.' I look at my new partner, 'Looks like we get our first taste of adventure together.' As we head out of town I notice a red haired boy peeking into the lab but think nothing of it... I
Sorry for any typos, posting drom my phone. I don't expect to be that detailed all the time, a lesson learned from Mewingcarrot, but wanted to get the background and start off as well as possible. Will hopefully have the first real section up later.
Very interesting character background, and I like your choice of nickname. --- --- LG Nuzlocke Team: Percy (Blastoise), Sora (Pidgeot), Xena (Primeape), Bronte (Electrode), Eremos (Sandslash)
Secomd Chances part 2 As Benaiah and I walked along route 29 I noticed a few things about him. Fitstly that he had a keen sense of hearing, always finding out where the pokemon was coming from and seeming to get the drop on them which enabled him to land that all important first blow. Secondly I notices his temdancy to throw himself into the fray with little consideration for his own safety, something that reminded me of Enfuego a bit, though he was more hasty than anythiing. Earger to join the fray. As we battled I tried instructing him a bit on how to battle with a bit more strategy, finally getting through to him to land a leer on the hoothoots before attacking, as they tended to require a second hit with scratch to go down. We quickly found ourselves in Cherrygrove, where an older man decided to gice me a tour. I indulged him and eventually he offered me a pair of new sneakers, seeing as the shoes I had on were more suited to the lab. After thanking him we were off again. Eventually we got to the house the professor deacribed to us and I knocked on the door. A man I could only guess to be 'Mr. Pokemon' answered the door and invited me in. As I entered the room he explained about hos big find and ecentually handed me a fairly large egg... A pokemon egg? The implications of this find had my mind going, to the point I didn't notice his other guest: none other than the pokemon professor himself, Proffesor Oak. 'Oh my, what a fine pokemon you have there!' He exclaimed as he bent over to examine Benaiah. 'Seems to have a marvelous bond with you, seems Elm was right about hiring you. I seem to remember you from somewhere... Right! You were a trainer in Kanto several years ago, no?' I nodded my agreement, tongue struck dumb in my mouth by this icon. 'Tell you what, I have an extra pokedex on me and need someone here to help me gather data on the pokemon found here in Johto. If you agree to help me out, it's yours.' I can only guess my eyes lit up because he's chuckled at something in my physical response. I seemingly had to pry my tongue from the roof of my mouth to speak an affirmatice, 'Sure, I'd loce to help' from my mouth. Eventually I was headed out the door, head in the clouds and happier than I thought I could be after my first day on the job, when my phone rang. 'This is...' 'Oh Mike, it's horrible. Please get back here as soon as possible.' It was Professor Elm, and that was all I got out of him before he hung up. I nodded at Benaiah and said, we need to get back ASAP, so please refrain from jumping every pokemon we come within 10 yards of, ok?' He nodded his understanding. After a quick pit stop at the Pokemon Center we headed out of Cherry Grove and almost immediately bumped into the red haired kid from the lab. 'I finally have a good pokemon of my own to challenge trainers like you!' As he was winding sown he was already throwing his pokeball and Benaiah stood at the ready... It's a good thing he likes to jump into the fray on his own because I was again struck speechless by what came out: Proffesor Elms Chikorita! It was no contest, Benaiah rush in using multiple scratches while the poor Chikorita barely manage to growl a bit before surcombing to the onslaught that is Benaiah. 'Man, I'll have to get tougher pokemon...' the boy then recalled his poor Chikorita and tried to stalk off. 'Hey, how did you get that pokemon, kid.' What's it to ya?' Seeing a scowl coming from a man three times his size seemed to have an effect on his attitude because he respectfully added, 'Got it from the Lab in New Bark town. The prof decided to give it to me as my starter.' Having no proof to the contrary I let him go, though I knew wjat the professor intended with it. I started back to the lab...
Good job, only problem I see is some mild spelling errors. --- --- LG Nuzlocke Team: Percy (Blastoise), Sora (Pidgeot), Xena (Primeape), Bronte (Electrode), Eremos (Sandslash)
Probably not spelling errors so much as 'chubby gaming fingers hitting x when aiming for o' syndrome. Was late when I posted and I forgot to double check/edit my post after writing it. Would be so much easier if my computer was up and running, as I could type out message in 1/2 the time, if not less, and edit much easier. Oh, and the built in spell checker always rocks. Anyway, probably no time to update tonight as I'm on break and still at work. Hopefully I can get something up tomorrow night.
