Break – Please don't tell me you named your Geodude the same as that kid... Brock – Ha! It's the SAME Geodude as that kid! Break facepalms and just points at the Geodude. Bastion used Water Gun and took it out in one hit. Brock – Gasp! Impossibru! DX Break – No... it's very possible. Badge please? Brock – Like I didn't have an ace up my sleeve... Go Ekans! Onix came roaring out. Break – GOOD LORD! Brock – Hahaha. Did I blow your mind? You were expecting an Ekans, and out came an Onix! Break – I don't even know what either of those are! You just gave away that this is an Onix. Brock – Then why were you so surprised?! Break – Because I have never seen ANY Pokemon aside from Pidgey and Ratatta! Brock – Ha! Then you have no idea how to beat my Onix! It's rock hard body will- Break – Water. Brock – No! It's weakness is... Harden... Break – Alright, Lyle it's your time to shine. Lyle- - C'mon! Bring it on! I'll take you out in one move! Brock – Idiot! Rock Tomb! Lyle was crushed under several huge rocks. Break - … Lyle...? ...Lyle? Bastion/Zephyre - … Brock – Haha, oops! A little overboard, I'm ~so~ sorry! Break – Lyle! C'mon! Roll out of there and do that stupid smile! C'mon! Bastion/Zephyre - … Break – So that's how it is huh... GO! Bastion sprayed water into the air while Zephyre used Gust to slam Onix into Brock against the gyms walls. Brock – N-no! Stop! Take the badge! Leave! I'm sorry! Break walked over to Lyles body, picked it up and began to leave. Zephyre flew over with a TM and Badge, Bastion walked over holding the money they had won from the gym. Break – Lyle, I'm so sorry. I really didn't know that you were weak to Onix... I really... didn't know. I'm so sorry I'm such a bad trainer... Bastion – It's okay Break, he went in knowing, but he believed in himself, because you believed in him. Break – It was a false belief! It was ignorance! Bastion – And he died in bliss, to make you happy. Break – I won't let that happen again. I won't let it ever happen again, I swear. Zephyre – We're a team, even if we do get a little annoying master. :( Break walked back to Virdian Forest and walked to a nest of Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill. Break – I am so sorry. I really am. Please, watch over this grave and protect it. I will be back to pay my respects again when I become champion. The Pokemon nodded and began to scurry away. Break – C'mon you two. We've gotta go. A Weedle crawls over. Weedle – You know, what's going on right? Break – No... what? Weedle – In the last 12 years, someone took over the Pokemon League, and Gym Leaders. They have told the Leaders to show no restraint. That's why no one challenges them anymore. And a big reason why in Viridian Forest the Pikachu hide and are hard to find. Break – What? Weedle – Pikachu use to be as common as Caterpie and I, until trainers came to catch them, and went to Pewter Gym. Pikachu were not strong against Rock types, and so they hide, out of fear of being caught and forced to fight a fight they will not survive. Break – Won't survive? Weedle – I wish I could tell you more, but I've never left the Forest, so I only hear what people say as they walk by. :( Break – Well I won't let this continue. Break - … Alright, let's go Bit. Break tosses a Pokeball and Bit joins without resistance. Zephyre flys down to Break from the sky. Break – What's the word? Zephyre – Cerulean city is next. It's not too far, but there's a cave. Brock – Sir I'm the best trainer for miles, if I can't stop him no one can. ??? - I see. Well that's fine. He won't get past her. Brock – You really think so? ??? - She better not fail. She knows the punishment for failure. Brock – I apologize again. Words From the Author #1 - Unexpected Loss So I was grinding outside of Pewter trying to make Lyle evolve, but that was taking too long. So I finally decided to just tackle Brock and evolve it by switching in and out. As you can see that did not work out how I planned, and I was earnestly shocked at what had happened. I thought about clicking it off and trying again, but I knew I couldn't, because the point of this was to grow bonds. It really was painful to see Lyle out so early, and I didn't expect for my story to take such a quick turn into the serious undertow that was meant to be shown later, but I guess I had no choice. Don't worry, those that actually find my kind of humor funny, there's still plenty to come, but the sudden loss was a curve ball I did not see coming. ---------------------------------Chapter 4 – 3 Moons Away Break – Alright Bit, I just want you to watch how Zephyre and Bastion battle, so you can get a feel of how we do things as a team. Bit – But I can fight right now! D: Break – Please, just watch, the Pokedex scanner says your only level 4. You need to get a little stronger before you can fight on your own. Please? Bit – Okay, if that's what Break wants. :3 Break battled several children along the path to Cerulean city. As Bastion and Zephyre defeated the Pokemon, Bit watched and learned how to battle. Mean while, robbing the children they defeated, as Rattata are natural scavengers. Break – Good job Bit. Bit – I feel bad for doing that stuff. :( Break – It's to help us get by. Zephyre – Master you can sell me if you need the money. :( Break – I'm not selling anyone! Bastion/Zephyre- ...Yet? Break – At all! Zephyre – Is it cause I'm not worth a lot? :'( Break – No because, well yes, um, stop asking me questions! You're all worthless! Pokemon – Yay! We're worthless! Break – No! You're not worthless, you're just... Pokemon – Don't sell us. :( Break – Damn it! Shut up for once! No one is being sold, no one is being eaten, and we're still gonna rob children because it's easy! Bastion - … No one said anything about eating us. :( Break – Ugh... C'mon guys let's go back to Pewter for the extra free heal. Break walked back into Pewter city, and saw the Gym in ruins. Break – Wh-what happened?! Cereal Bowl Man – Aliens did it! Up there at Mt. Moon! Break – I just came from there! There wasn't any aliens! Cereal Bowl Man – Then it must've been your fault! Loo~loo~loo~! Break – Why does everything human or Pokemon torment me?! Weirdo – I'll tell you what happened. After you beat Brock, the gym exploded that night. Break – I wasn't too far out of town! How didn't I hear it?! Weirdo – Maybe the mourning of your loss took mental priority. Break - … Weirdo – Sorry, didn't mean to pick a fresh wound. But really, the gym exploded, and Brock hasn't been seen. Break – Was it an accident? Weirdo – Who knows. Just know this Red, those that are closest to you, are not what they seem. Break – What does that mean? Is Oak the bad guy? Should I just go back to Pallet and beat his - Weirdo – It's not Oak! At least, I'm pretty sure it's not. Break – Are you sure? I can go back real quick. He's got no Pokemon, I think he killed the Charmander he had... Weirdo – Look, I'll try to get all the info I can, and let you know. Break – Why are you helping me so much? Weirdo – Because... I think you're pretty. Break - ...Eh? Weirdo – I am named Weirdo after all. Break – I HATE MY LIFE! Break yelled as he pulled his hair looking into the sky. When he opened his eyes, Weirdo was gone. He healed up his team, and started to walk back to Mt. Moon. Break – Hey guys, how about a new team mate? Pokemon – Yay a new friend! Break ran into a Spearow Break – Would... you like to join us? Bastion – You're asking? Break – I figure asking peacefully wouldn't be bad as opposed to just beating up. Spearow – You already have a flying type! RAGHHH! Break – What's wrong with it?! Zephyre- Spearow can be real jealous! Break – Bit! Take him out! Inside the cave Break ran into a girl. Girl 1 – Haha! How about a battle? I've been practicing for the Gyms! Break – Alright Bit! First real battle! Go for it! Girl 1 – Cleafairy take it out! Bit was tossed to the top of the cave and to the floor several times. Break – Hey cut it out! This is just a friendly battle! Girl 1 – Friendly? You're not playing by the rules Red. Breaks eyes constricted. What in the World is going on?! He knew nothing of the outside Worlds problems. Break – Bastion! Make it stop! Bastion used Water Gun and sprayed the girl and her pokemon across the cave. Break – Damn it! Bit! There's a Pokemon Center outside! You're gonna be okay! He ran to NJ and she immediately took Bit into intensive care. Break – So, how is she? She's okay right? NJ – I'm sorry, but her wounds were too severe. She won't be with us much longer. You can see her if you want, but I don't advise it. Break walked back into the room where Bit was. Break – Bit, I- Bit – You don't have to say it Break. I was over eager to battle, and I guess you could say I -bit- off more than I could chew. :) Break – Now's not a time for jokes! Bit – I know, it's too late for me, and I'm sorry I didn't keep my promise. Break – Promise? Bit – I promised to myself I wouldn't leave you so soon, before you got to know me. So if you did lose me, then you could enjoy the memories. Break – I have no idea what to say. Bit – Then don't say anything, just promise me one thing, the only promise I will ever ask of you. Break – Anything. Bit – Can you stay with me? I'm scared, and I don't want to be alone. Break stayed the rest of the night at the Pokemon Center until Bit was gone. That morning he dug her a grave and outside the Pokemon Center. He couldn't take her back where he got her, he had to sadly keep moving forward. Zephyre – Master, I'm so sorry. Bastion - … Break – Why did I let her go? Bastion – You- Break – There's nothing you can say this time Bastion. I'm still to new at this. I let Bit down, in record time compared to Lyle. Bastion – Shut up! If we get hurt it's because we know what's at stake! Break – Oh?! And why don't you tell me what's at stake then Bastion! NJ – I know what's at stake. Nj said as she walked up the dirt hill towards the three. NJ – 12 years ago an unnamed champion beat the Elite Four, and took over. He had a strong Pokemon with him, and whether out respect or fear, they listened to the champions new rules. No self-restraint when in a Pokemon Battle, no remorse, and do all it takes to win. Break – So just because some two-bit kid became Champion kids have to make their Pokemon fight to the death? NJ – No, no one has to do anything. That's why in the last 10 years, no one dared go against the Gym Leaders. They were far too strong to slip up, and people didn't want to lose their friends. Break looked to Zephyre and Bastion Break – And you knew of this? Bastion – Don't yell at Zephyre, I only heard what I heard from the Professor, and I informed the others when you weren't around. And you know what? Instead of running away they stayed because since the beginning, you never forced us to hurt anything beyond what needed to be done. Break – We ate a Mankey! Zephyre – To be fair, I just flew to the Pokemart and brought us back canned soup. Break thought about it, and realized he took no part in the act of actually turning the Mankey into food. Bastion – If you knew, I don't think you would have made us battle. Break – And how do you know I wouldn't just go wild with you all and make you do the unthinakble?! Zephyre waddled up to Break and gently pecked at his leg. Zephyre – Because, we just knew, that's all. We figured if we told you, you'd act differently as opposed to how you have been. Break – Well you were right. I can't keep going on if everyone out there is committed to hurting anyone they meet in battle. Bastion – We aren't afraid Break. We're doing this because we have to, and because if you don't who will? Those words echoed through his head a million times in one second before he came back to reality. Break – Why me? Bastion – Because. Isn't that good enough? Does their need to be a special reason? Zephyre – I don't want my friends to live in Pallet Town forever. I want them to know it's safe to fly away and see other places. I was so excited when you caught me, and even more so when Bastion told me we were gonna fight the Gym Leaders. Break – Did you plan this all along Bastion? Bastion – I didn't mean to trick you, it just all sorta happened really fast... Break – I'm not angry at you two, I'm just mad at myself. I said I wouldn't let anyone else get hurt... Bastion – You didn't know the rules. All the trainers out there, no matter who they might be, they won't hold back. If they show mercy on anyone, what chance do they have beating the gyms? Break – I will hold back. Under no circumstance, are we to harm anyone past what we need to do understand? Doesn't matter who they are. Bastion/Zephyre – Yes! NJ – Stay safe, Cerulean Joy will tell you more when you arrive. Break – Thank you. Break and the two walked back to Mt. Moon. Words From the Author #2 - It Never Ends Alright, so it happened again sadly. I lost Bit to the girl trainer in Mt. Moon right at the entrance. Lv9 Bit VS Lv14 Clefairy I truly thought I could get a hit or two in before I had to switch, I was painfully wrong. I apologize for the spike in sadness and sorrow, but these two (Lyle and Bit) had just barely been with me and so very soon had they disappeared, and I get easily attached to things (such as Pokemon) very easily. I again, wanted to restart and pretend it never happened, but that's not how it goes. As you can see so far at least, this world of Pokemon is a little darker than you would think for most aye? I hope you enjoy the mystery because it was my intention to have it a mixture of: Comedy / Mystery / Suspense / Tragedy from the start, but I didn't mean for the Tragedy to start so soon. This will be the last entry for a day or so. I hope to not lose another friend before I make it to C-City, and I hope to catch a new friend inside Mt. Moon. See ya again soon!
