It's not bad. What I'm glad to hear is they're getting away from the whole magical aspect of the previous games and keeping things more realistic.

...its like... one of the primary reason why I think this game is a joke. Shouldn't call it Thief, its a ******* insult.

Limiting the magical elements and trying to be more realistic isn't bad, is it? The Metal Age is considered by most thief fans to be the best and it also had the least amount of magical elements.

But it still had them, and in sufficient amounts that it still felt like the same world.

The Metal Age was the best because it had the best level design and gameplay, not because it had the least magical elements.

If they had gotten rid of magical elements entirely, it honestly would have made it worse, atmospherically. The dark magical elements added a lot of mystery and freakiness to the universe that improved the atmosphere. It made the world more interesting, which I'd say is better than making it more realistic.

I'd like them to keep at least some of the magical and supernatural elements in it... makes it interesting
