Is Gambling Worth It?

I am playing the game for the first time (Vanquisher). I have bought a few items from the "gambler" and so far received nothing worthwhile. Is it worth continuing to try? Have you ever gotten something really nice?

Yes, it is worth it if you have the money. However, once you find a good item from the gambler, keep it and start enchanting until you feel comfortable with what you have.

The best way to gamble is find what piece of equipment is showing the most age and then gamble nothing but that type. For example, all of your gear except your boots are up to snuff but you just cannot seem to find a good pair of boots. Go to the gambler and gamble nothing but boots. You have a higher chance to gamble a unique pair than if you bought a pair of boots interspersed between ten other items.

Also, if you are going to gamble, make sure you have enough gold for at least five gambles. From personal experience, I seem to gamble more unique and set items if I gamble in bulk rather than one at a time - and by "one at a time" I am referring to gambling one piece of equipment, leaving town, and coming back later for one more gamble.

I've never gotten something actually good that wasn't ridiculously overpriced.

Wouldn't recommend doing it.

I gambled this ring (first picture is after a few enchants) a long time ago.

This is what the ring is now (enchanting is too risky for the disenchant %)

Don't have a pic cause I retired the character, but I gambled an armor that had defense of over 180, plus a half dozen other enchantments.
That Vanq trashed the Black Palace with that much defense.

Thank you all for this advice. I'll keep gambling and see what turns up.

STG Deathbot... Can't help but notice you have lvl 57 fame... thought cap was 50? Also status says "unattainable". Didn't know you could stack potions up to 140 either...

So I'm not sure I believe that you were able to enchant your items so heavily without a mod of some kind.

Maybe a disclaimer about gambling/enchanting on the vanilla game vs mods is appropriate.

From personal experience I can't seem to get past 10% un-enchant rate before I get no-enchantment or worse, chop-shopped.

Yeah, he's using mods for stack size and lvl caps. I would assume no disenchant as well.

There's nothing wrong with it, just preference. I haven't found that I need more than 20 potions and I haven't reached levels 100/50 yet so I haven't bothered with them. Personally I keep the disenchant thing in there just because otherwise I figure you could keep enchanting until you got really broken items, but I know it's a popular mod.

On topic, I haven't bothered with gambling simply because I never seem to have a lot of excess money. The shops sell great equipment at times and enchanting gets pricey. Also, I tend to turn all my magic and rares into gems, so there goes a considerable portion of my potential income.

On my third play-through, I decided to check out some mods. The cap is normally 55 (I think) for Fame. I have Level999 and Fame99 added since I hit max fame so early in the game. When I would reach a point in the main quest where I was finding I was using too many health potions, I would delve back starting from the very top and working my way back down. This warranted a ton of extra Fame.

The potions were a much needed feature considering my Vanquisher dies in a few hits. My armor has only 29 armor on it because I am using it for the stats. Hovering somewhere around Shadow Vault level 49, the enemies tend to kill me very quickly and I hated having my inventory 80% potions.
