Black Ops weapons > MW3

I dig the old Cold War-era weapons. MW3 might be a better game on a technical level, but I like the "feel" of Black Ops.

I know they're trying to be authentic, but the MW weapons all look the same to me.

BTW, I was on a hike this week and came across an old Cold War-era anti-air Nike Missle base. It was abandoned in the early 1970s, but it looked just like a MP map in Black Ops. It was gutted of any equipment and covered in spray paint, but other wise looked just like a real-life MP Map.

anachronistic weapons of black ops being that black ops takes place in the 60's

cz75 1975 ( full auto model 1992)
asp 1970
mac-11 1972
mp5k 1976 ( prototype with wooden handles )
Spectre 1980
pm63 ( long shot as it was introduced in 1965)
Kiparis 1976
Famas 1990 ( my favorite, Based on the F1 Felin )
ak74u 1974
Galil 1973
aug 1978
g11 1980 ( early prototypes 1970's)
spas12 1979
RPK 1974
L96 1982
WA2000 1982
PSG1 1970
Strela-3 1974
M202 1978 ( devolved in the 1970's first fielded by the us army 1978)

Note all these were based on the weapon models in the game. As you can see more than half the weapons in the game didn't exist at the time of BO or were in their infancy.

treyarch failed on making the time period and weapons match in mp. i was happy when i played the campaign and they had weapons like the ppsh,mp40 and mosin nagant (my all time favorite rifle) but then i played the mp and was like wtf where are the old guns?

I know the feeling, but I have it in reverse. I really liked the feel of the MW2 weapons. Part was because they played differently, but I like how they looked difference and felt different when fired.

With BO, I felt that everyone AR was the same. Not just because they were on paper, but they didn't feel any different from one-another. I would sometimes use the Enfield for no other reason than because it dropped to the left.

Agreed. Black Ops had the worst variety of guns and gun sounds, IMO.
I prefer my TAR-21 over any of Black Ops' guns.

I went back to play MW2 a few nights ago and I just used the gun I already had in classes. The SCAR, TAR, ACR, MP5, UMP, and P90. Each one of those guns felt unique and played much differently than another.

Plus, being used to BO, I was able to slap CB on my P90 class and had no problem killing people in five shots. I remember hating that when I was used to the TAR with SP.

black ops does not have the following :

Desert Eagle
Barret 50 Cal

which means black ops does not have my favorite guns ...

which means other games that have these guns are my favorite games ...

even if lack ops did gun balance and hit detection badly ... i still prefer the MW feel over anything else ...

Black Ops guns have no statistical variety and all sound terrible. 90% of the submachine guns sound like popcorn makers and just don't cut it. MW2 had one of the most diverse and yet well balanced (minus UMP) sets of weapons I've seen in a video game.
