The rumors of THQ losing the licence and EA making the next game have been floating around for years now, and it hasn't happened yet.

From what i have been reading THQ wants to continue the lisence aswell as does Jakks and WWE. However WWE and THQ wants Jakks out of the equation. EA Sports i am not too sure about but i have seen the stories about this. I can't seen this happening but if THQ ends up out i heard they have a no compete cluase aswell to prevent them from making Wrestling Games.

either way it would and could be a good thing.
if ya all recall ea made def jam vendetta and fight for new york.
some of the creators for wwwf no mercy an wcw/nwo revenge worked on those games.

^ they also made backstage assault, the new def jam, and mayhem. so its pretty much a toss up in the air.

as for the link, its all just rumors. all EA said is they are going to announce a new game. they didnt say what type of game. how they got it will be a wrestling game or even a wwe game is beyond me.

Here's where I'm confused. Wasn't it already announced like a month ago that WWE and THQ came to terms on a new contract extension that would make THQ the official WWE video game license-holder until 2014?

For all we know it could be for the TNA video game license. South Peak only picked up the TNA license for the Handhelds and Ps2, hence TNA Impact Cross the Line games coming out. I remember a few months ago after Midway went under that TNA said they have acquired a new video game deal and will make a big announcement soon to come. As the poster listed above, THQ and WWE renewed and just wanted JAKKS out of the picture because Mattel will have the Toy License come Jan 1st.

i wouldn't mind a ROH game. i mean there's not a rule book that says EA can't make wrestling games outside of the WWE. if done right THQ might actually have enough competition to improve on the SvR franchise.
