[HEAVY] Pages from Grimoire Nier [SPOILERS]

As topic.

I didn't scan "Ushiwareta Sekai" because that alone is worth buying this guide (not to mention scanning it will hurt the binding :p).

The following 4 pages are the timeline of Nier (the Gestalt project, explanation of terms, and other organizations/drugs/whatever):

These 2 pages are the short story "And then there were none", which tells the story of how the Grimoires came to be:

(To enjoy it fully, please read the timeline first, specifically on the Hamelin Organization.)

I think if there isn't much interest in the artworks then that'll probably take away 20-30% of the reason to buy it (but I personally think it's fun to read the comments from the development team). And if you don't understand Japanese but you want to know anyway, I guess you could wait for people to summarize/translate? :p Finally, if you love the world of Nier very very much, then don't wait, get it! XD

I hope someone translates this, the story started so good and then they suddenly let it fall like a sack potatoes, and the endings were probably the most disappointing thing I've seen in a long time.

yh i will wait for translation then lol... but thx for posting to those who can read it xD

I can't translate (because I think I lack the artistic license) but I can give a really brief summary of the Grimoire short story :p

Basically 13 people were drugged and they were thrown into a huge room, 9 males (including the protagonist), and 4 females. They're all strangers and they came from different places in the world, thus they can't really communicate efficiently due to the language barrier. Then the protagonist (who is unnamed, but you do get to "figure out" who he is at the end) saw someone he recognizes, and it's a girl who used to be in the crusade to eliminate the legions. Although they were in different teams, the protagonist saved her in the past.

Fortunately, the girl could speak the language the protagonist speaks because she learned it from her mother. Then after some exchange of words, they figured they were being deceived by the Hamelin Organization (and possibly something more). As a result, they were subjected to the condition they find themselves currently in.

Not too long after that, people in the room started fighting against each other with magic (like the ones you see in-game), and those who were defeated were sucked into books. The protagonist and the girl tried to stay outta the way, but the girl got hit by dark lance, and she turned into the red book. Then the other guy who stabbed the girl with dark lance got sucked into the book, and he became the black book. Finally, the protagonist felt tremendous despair after he figured out this was just another cruel experiment and he will be sucked into the book. So the pondered what color he should be, and he thought about the color - white. The thought of being turned into a book and coming back as a different being entertains him. He laughed as he disappears.

Yeah, some of the short stories are kinda "graphic".

Like in "Red and Black" you learned that young Nier had to sell his body just to earn enough for a living (it first started as an "accident"). To make things short, the guy who patronizes Nier pretty much abused him severely. Then one day Nier along with others were asked to kill some shades, and one of the people in that group is his patron. The guy teased Nier, and Nier was quiet all along. When the group's in the cave, all of them realized that they're faced with numerous shades. Nier kept on cutting down shades after shades, and he realized that he has a side to him that he didn't know. So finally when everything has ended, one person is missing, and that's his patron. (It was sorta hinted in between the lines that Nier cut him like a shade, probably due to the heavy fog, and the fact that it's hard to discern the difference between cutting a shade and a human.)

But then there are also some that really sweet like "A Little Princess" (which is about Fyra and the Prince) and "Ushiwareta Sekai" :)

I was wondering what the "Black, and white. Thirteen pacts. The vessels' forms waver as they cross time and space." line linked to. I think that short story might be it. So this entire thing became amusing to "him" when he realizes that he can't escape, huh?

Cavia, don't stop being awesome like that.
